Engaging course with great teacher support and feedback

I thoroughly enjoyed completing this course and found the knowledge gained through the materials, as well as the feedback from the teacher to be extremely valuable. There are plenty of lesson plan assignments to complete which gets you thinking about the best ways to create engaging lessons for classes. It was also nice being able to see other students assignments to gain other ideas.

It was also very beneficial having the lesson demonstration to the teacher. Though this was daunting, it allowed me to experience a bit of the feeling of being totally unprepared for how I will communicate my lesson to the class. I am sure that this knowledge will be very useful when the time comes for me to teach my first class!

Culture Route 120-Hour online TEFL Course

The fact that the course involves assignments being posted on a forum with other students was really motivating. It gave me inspiration as I was able to read others work and put their ideas to use, as they made me consider things I had not even thought of.
Also, the fact that leaving substantial feedback on another's work was compulsory meant that I was made to think critically in order to help others, whilst also receiving notes from others to better my work and understanding.
The work was really engaging and the bountiful supply of resources made engaging with the course far easier for a new teacher, as it really helped me gain a wider understanding, and help me along.

Pros
  • Gained a good understanding of the knowledge needed to become an EFL teacher
  • Worked alongside others collaboratively and even made friends despite the course being online
  • Great support and quick response time from the instructor
Cons
  • The website did crash on me when trying to post my final exam but I was able to send my work through by email to the coordinator

Good course

The course was interesting and I feel as though it has set me up with the skills and knowledge I need to be a TESOL teacher. The course coordinators provided great feedback on my assignments and seemed friendly and approachable.
The delivery of some of the content was not amazing. There were some spelling mistakes and formatting errors. Also, some content was repeated and placed in what seemed like irrational places. Despite these minor issues, the course definitely does what it says on the tin. After taking the course I have a strong confidence in my ability to teach TESOL.

CultureRoute review

I really enjoyed this course, it was everything I expected and more. Nothing to complain about and would highly recommend it.
It involved a lot of thinking out the box and also learnt a lot of things I really didn’t know but needed to know. This course however could be challenging in the beginning for those that didn’t see themselves teaching but once you get the hang of it it’s really okay and doable. Enjoy it and have fun with it because really you have nothing to loose, only gaining knowledge really. If you doubting the course , I’m telling you - go for it ! You won’t understand the feeling of knowing more then what you thought you already knew. All the best if you take this journey!

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Doing an online presentation. The famous words of “teacher, I don’t understand”

CultureRoute 120 Hour online TEFL course

I have no teaching experience, and minimal coaching experience when it comes to kids. This course has been enlightening and I gained much more than just some basics on how to tech English. I gained an understanding of what are some inherit keys to teaching regardless of the material. The instructor is very honest in reviews and clearly helps you understand where to improve and why. With more resources once completed I feel like I have the skillset now to go out and being my new journey in a foreign country teaching my native language. Great course!

Best TEFL Course for New Teachers

This TEFL program is a fantastic program! It is a perfect course for new teachers as they start on their teaching journey. The main emphasis of this course is on lesson planning. There is a lot of information in the course that help teachers start to develop their own lesson plans. This course does briefly cover grammar and terms, but doesn't go in depth on how to teach it. Everything is self paced, and all the homework is due at the end of the week. The instructor also gives the students a lot of support and in-depth feedback after submitting homework. My favorite part of this course is meeting and communicating with others. There are other students also taking the course and you provide each other feedback in a forum style website. I really enjoyed the feedback from my peers, because it let me see my own lesson in a new light. My peers and I also made a group chat to stay in touch as we all embark to new destinations. Overall, this course is truly a great course for new teachers who may not know where to start with their teaching and need help developing lessons and curriculum.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
If I were to do this course again, I would try to manage my time better. Everything is due at the end, so making sure I started at the beginning of the week and trying to give myself enough time to complete the homework was the hardest part.

Great online course

I completed the online course and am about to finish the course in Hua Hin, Thailand. The online course was a great start and really gives you a good insight as to what teaching abroad will be like. Jon and the team have all been super friendly and a pleasure to start such a wonderful experience with.
Overall it has been a great start to what I am both confident and hopeful will be a fulfilling, life changing teaching experience and I can't wait to see the rest of what the course and experience has to offer.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Always try and be as prepared as possible and throw yourself into the experience. It's not always going to be easy, but every challenge will help make you grow and improve.
