About Program
Travel with a purpose. This WildChina service program to remote Guizhou offers students a chance to give back to the ethnic minority community with which they live for a week. Students work hand-in-hand with the local Miao villagers on everything from preparing meals to supporting local efforts to complete much needed infrastructure projects. There's no better way to experience village life than becoming part of the community. Unforgettable moments include a village welcome ceremony, spectacular hikes through rice terraced mountains, and getting to know a warm-hearted homestay family.
With each trip, we either continue a previous service project or begin a new one. With our previous volunteers, we helped a mountain village access clean water. We did this by getting our hands dirty with cement to construct a new and sanitary gutter system. We also assist an isolated elementary school with cultural exchange programs. The requests from the local community change with each inquiry.
