A crazy adventure, overflowed with remarkable memories.

A great organization that takes good care of you. From day one I was met with open arms by the Hutong School staff, which made the transition easy. Regarding some my own thoughts before going abroad. Like, where am I going to stay? How will I create friendships, and whom can I call in an emergency situation. Hutong School provided an important social structure, and offered plenty of social events throughout my stay. They provided the much needed comfort, and administrative support, that help you to solely focus on your stay abroad. I lived in a cosy apartment, shared with other students. The housing complex even had it’s own friendly security personnel. Which was absolutely unnecessary, but none the less reassuring.

My Shanghai adventure had a huge impact on who I am today, both as a person, and as a employee. I'm forever grateful for the opportunity, and humbled by the caring staff of Hutong School.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Showing up on the first day of my internship. I'd been in contact with the company, and the ever so sweet staff. Even with my former work experience, and previous travels. Meeting them, and finishing my first day of my internship was a definitely a nerve-racking moment. After that experience, I became more confident, when facing difficult challenges.

Internship Shanghai

I did my internship in Shanghai and had a really amazing experience! I made a lot of friends, and a lot of connections. I had a nice appartment, with nice flat mates.
I had a good internship with nice colleagues and a fun working environment.
I have seen a lot of China, and definitly want to see more of the country in the upcoming years.
During my internship I learned a lot about doing business in China, and also developed myself on a personal level while doing this internship.
When I was living in Shanghai I learned to take care of myself, and because I was living in a big city you need to adapt to the city life and don't get to involved with everything that is going on in the city.
I will definitly want to go back to China, and make use of the program that they offer!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Just go with the flow! China is a country with many differences that you will going to love once you are there!
