Why did you decide to intern abroad with The Intern Group?

Katie: I chose to do my internship through The Intern Group because during the interview process I never felt pressured. I looked into similar programs before finding The Intern Group, and always felt pressured to go with their program, to pay the fees, and had no time to decide if that program was the right decision for me.

After speaking to an Intern Group representative and learning that I was eligible to do an internship through them, I was able to take the time and think before taking on such a big experience. Their customer service was the best from the day I applied to the program until the day I returned home after my internship.

Describe your most meaningful souvenir and why you love it:

Katie: My most meaningful souvenir is a scrapbook of all of my ticket stubs, newspaper clippings, photos, even my Oyster card!

I made this after I returned home to remember my trip by being able to see the things I did and all of the places I traveled to. I can always go back and remember the amazing experience I had.

What is one piece of advice you'd give future The Intern Group students?

Katie: My one piece of advice to future The Intern Group students is to never pass up an opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture of the place you go to. You are only making your trip that much better through the experiences that you cannot get back at home.

The Intern Group does a great job of providing fun activities and events for their participants to do after work and on the weekends, but don't stop at those! Do anything and everything you can because you never know when you are going to get back to the country you are staying in!

Do you feel you got a chance to see the city from a local's perspective?

Katie: Absolutely! During my program I learned to not only live in London, but I learned how to live on my own in the real world, not just on college campus (trust me, there is a difference!). I shopped for groceries, took the Tube to and from work (and just about everywhere else I wanted to go, it's so easy!).

I truly believe that my experience through The Intern Group allowed me to live like a local, and immerse myself into London life, even more so than if you simply studied abroad here with a university.
