What is your favorite travel memory?
When I was visiting family in Italy my aunt took my cousins and me on a trip to Florence. We spent the entire day walking around the city, visiting the less touristy areas like small delis and art galleries. She showed us her favorite spots for people watching and her favorite buildings. We went to an old family owned ice-cream parlor and watched the sunset on the banks of the Arno.
Which destination is most underrated? Conversely, which is most overrated?
I feel that many western travelers shy away from countries that are very different from their home countries - China, Mongolia, Laos, etc. Generally Eastern countries (aside from Thailand) don't get the recognition they deserve. The same could be said for many African countries. There is a stigma created by the west surrounding African countries. They are seen as dangerous, tribal and war-torn which is terribly misrepresentative.
What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?
The biggest factor for me would be constant service delivery. Building a good reputation is incredibly important.
How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?
The role is without question the largest I've filled. There are a lot of moving parts to keep track of and I feel I have slowly learned to better manage my time.
