What is your favorite travel memory?

When I studied abroad in France for 8 months, 10 of my fellow peers and friends traveled to the Alps to stay in a wood cabin and go skiing for a week. The mountain views we had the privilege of seeing were incredible! I'll never forget lounging on top of the Alps on a Muskoka chair, suntanning, sipping on a beer and gazing at the incredible peaks of Chamonix!

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

I was responsible for carving out my role with OnTESOL back in 2017, so there have been many learning curves! I've learned to be capable of developing programs and systems with a bit of creative thinking and passion.

Working for an institute that provides education in an online setting has definitely shed light on my capacities as an innovator and passionate community builder. I've also learned so much about our students' and graduates' educational pursuits, online education, and about how to manage my time while working remotely.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

That our courses have opened the door for new and innovative positions around the world! So many of our return students love the in-depth knowledge they gain in the course and they always have nothing but amazing things to say about the attention, knowledge, and feedback they received from our tutors. So many of them come back to take another one of our courses because their first time around was such a positive and enlightening experience.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

I have in fact taken OnTESOL's 120-hour Advanced TESOL certificate! It's a wonderful course that blends theory and very hands-on, practical skill-building. I loved the lesson planning portion of the course and how the course actually built me up and prepared me to write lesson plans. I also loved that I didn't just write one lesson plan, but 4! It was extensive, but I left the course feeling so prepared to be an ESL teacher, which I did for a year after finishing the course!

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

I think there are many things that set OnTESOL out from the rest. I think one of the main things is that we see the programs we offer as academia. We don't simply pass every student who enrolls in our courses. We offer a grading and probation system to ensure you are receiving the highest standard of TESOL training.

As I mentioned above, our courses also offer much more lesson planning than the majority of TESOL courses. We also offer you training to use authentic material, like podcasts, YouTube and much more so that you can teach in a communicative way to your students, not simply rote memorization, which is highly outdated.

We also offer our students a very personalized experience. We are a mighty team of passionate TESOL educators and experts in online education, who want to see you complete our courses prepared to go and do something meaningful and impactful.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

Clear and open communication among team members, organization and passion.

Our company's staff all enjoy working with each other and our passion is what fuels our desire to create better systems of organization and communication. When there is an issue, we work hard to resolve it with one another so that it is prevented for the future.

Our passion is what drives us to also create better courses, better and more personalized job assistance and to help people feel truly prepared to be TESOL educators. Choosing a TESOL course can be a very overwhelming task. On a daily basis, I receive feedback from students, graduates and prospective students explaining that so much was clarified for them about what to expect from a TESOL course, after taking a course with us or after speaking with one of our representatives.
