I am definitely a big city guy but it is difficult to choose just one favorite memory. One of the best memories definitely has to be traveling to New York for the first time and being awed and inspired by everything in the Big Apple. New York is very different from any other city I have been to and It is one of the places, I can keep going back to and continue to feel like it is my first time there.

Vinay Vimalan studied at BPP Law School in the UK and Harvard University in the USA. He founded Capital Placement while studying first year of his law degree and it has now grown to an international internship provider with operations in London, New York, Singapore, India and Berlin with plans to expand to numerous other locations. In his spare time, Vinay enjoys playing sports, plane spotting and advising young entrepreneurs and startups.
What is your favorite travel memory?
How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?
Beyond words can explain! I have come a long way in the nearly 10 years since I co-founded Capital Placement with my Co-founder Niran. We have gone from 2 person team in London to a great team of passionate colleagues spread across the world.
Although we have grown a lot as a company, our mission still remains the same- help students and recent graduates get great quality financially sustainable, internships while living and working in some of the best cities around the world.
What is the best story you've heard from a return student?
Every student in our program has great stories to tell us when they return. The best stories are in fact the ones where our customers get offered full-time roles in the companies they interned with and stay on in the city.
It's results like this that inspire us to keep delivering the programs that we do.
If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?
This is an easy one, our soon to be launched Global Internship Program. We are super excited to launch this program where students and graduates will get the chance to intern across 2 or 3 cities over 12 or 18 months. This is a program I really wished I could do and one I would strongly recommend to any recent graduate that wants to travel and gain great internship work experience.
Imagine having work experience in 3 different countries on your CV in your early 20s!
What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?
One of our core focus areas is to ensure the internships in our program are some of the best in the world. One of the proudest moments has been winning the Go Overseas Awards for 2 years in a row and being recognized as a Top Internship Provider for providing the best growth opportunities for our interns.
For most interns, the whole point of an internship abroad is growth: professional, and/or personal development that can only be gained through real, international work experience. Having our alumni review our great programs and for Go Overseas to recognize the quality of the programs through our independent customer feedback has definitely been a moment where everyone at CP felt proud!
What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?
One of the biggest factors behind our success was being students ourselves when we started the company. This gave us a huge advantage as we knew what students were looking for when they were looking to intern abroad;
