Why choose ZopED Academy?

Our name originates from an early 20th century psychologist, Lev Vygotsky. "Zoped" stands for: the Zone of Proximal Development and essentially explains how individuals can reach their full potential by collaborating with capable peers and adults to learn how to best accomplish tasks. ZopED Academy aims to foster professional development through a deep understanding of what it means to be a global citizen. Learning coupled with real-world experience is our mission and we strive to help our students grow through our unique and fun programming.

What is your favorite travel memory?

Honestly there are so many. But the one that does stand out was my first trip to India when I was 8 years old. Even as an 8 year old, I remember seeing sites and hearing sounds that I had never experienced before and was so excited. And since my first trip to India, I have been so lucky to travel and study in to so many places around the world. My goal now with Zoped Academy is to bring that same excitement and experiences to others.

Which destination is most underrated? Conversely, which is most overrated?

As for a couple of underrated destinations that I have been to recently, I would select Taipei and Lima. Both have incredible food, culture, and history and are great cities to walk around.

As for overrated destinations, I do not think any place is overrated. Every place in the world is unique and must be looked upon on as such.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

Patience, persistence, vision, and not afraid to think outside of the box.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

I have definitely become more patient and zen since I started Zoped Academy. I have allowed things to come to fruition organically, while continuing to hold the same vision and goals. Just because I have a vision of my company does not mean it will happen overnight.

What unique qualities does your company possess?

Hands on commitment and a team that has a desire, experience, and innovation to develop high quality programs.

Describe a time when you felt especially proud to be part of your current team.

When we began discussing what type of program and curriculum we wanted to develop we would have these great, intense brainstorming sessions. No idea was wrong and we listened to everyone's thoughts, because I believe it it is important for everyone to be heard. Thus, what we have established are programs that are enriching and well rounded for all types of participants.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

As we are launching our programs this summer we do not have a return student yet. But, I am very very excited to hear their stories upon their return later this year!!
