How do you think this program would be for a 12 year old (middle schooler?) if I came with my son?

Hi Alex,
I think if you took your son it’d definitely be worthwhile. Not only would it give him a huuuge boost to his Spanish which would help him in school, just living in the house and being in Guatemala is such a great experience and time, it’s truly quite different from the US, much more simple and to me more fun. Being in Guatemala gave me tons of perspective before college, and I wish my dad had been cool enough to bring me there when I was in middle school! If you have any other questions don’t hesitate to reach out

Harrison, thanks so much for taking the time to respond. I appreciate it and your response is helpful.

I think it would be awesome! People bring their children all the time so the teacher have experience teaching all ages. Your kid would probably love running around the grounds and hanging out with the animals. They also have books for all ages :)

Mareika- thanks for your answer and appreciate hearing that children come along and that there are animals at the Escuela. I hope you don't mind this follow up: Did you feel safe traveling to a rural part of Guatemala? Also if you are female, how did you find traveling around? I am an East Asian woman and was fearless in my youth traveling around the world but now I'm not as nimble as I once was and I checked the USA State Dept travel advisories. They caution against traveling to Quetzaltenago area. But I recognize that this might be a biased perspective from the USA State Dept.
