About Program

The London Met summer programs focus on business and U.K. Studies. You can choose a four-week, course-only option or an eight-week combination with four-weeks of courses and a four-week custom internship. Both programs include an optional Edinburgh, Scotland tour, adding the option of an additional week abroad.

London Met’s internship office will work with you individually on internship opportunities that match your interests. Opportunities may be available in areas such as business, law, finance, human resources, marketing, computing, digital media, events, social care, education, graphic design, art journalism, and sports science. London Met’s internship office will facilitate an online interview between you and potential employers for an initial meeting and to determine if the internship is a good fit prior to departure.

Diversity & Inclusion

LGBTQIA+ Support

There are LGBTQIA+ friends, colleagues, and allies throughout the world. However, cultural understanding of gender identity and sexuality does vary from country to country. USAC has compiled a lot of resources to help you through that learning process.

Accessibility Support

USAC is dedicated to working closely with students with disabilities to ensure the best study abroad experience possible. You may request reasonable accommodations after your initial application is complete. We routinely receive requests for scheduling, material, and environmental accommodations for the classroom setting, which may include assistive technology, scribes and readers, printed material, and interpretation.

Impact

Sustainability

Environmentally-conscious students choose USAC because many of our programs are held in some of the most sustainable countries in the world. There are options to take coursework in sustainability and the environment, as well as field trips and studies where students can leave a lasting impact on their host country.

Study Abroad Helped Me Plan for My Future Career!

Throughout my entire undergraduate experience, I was certain that I wanted to work and live abroad after graduation. This was a goal I held firmly in my mind, despite having never been out of the country at all, which is why I made the decision to study abroad. During my senior year, it dawned on me that it would have been a major gamble to move across the world without any prior experience! The London Met Summer I Program was the perfect opportunity for me to determine whether or not my career goal was realistic. The length, one month, was the perfect amount of time to adjust to the city without becoming too homesick. The mix of cultural similarities and differences was varied enough that I was pushed outside of my comfort zone in a helpful way, without being totally confused. The resident director in London for USAC is the coolest person ever and planned incredible activities for our group throughout the month. I would highly recommend this program to anyone who is new to international travel and looking to expand their worldview in a fun, but structured way!

Pros
  • A summer program made it so that I did not miss a semester at my home university with my friends.
  • London doesn't technically have a language barrier, although you are still exposed to hundreds of different languages due to the city's diverse population.
  • Our group was very small, so it was easy to get to know each other in a short amount of time.
Cons
  • Our living situation was not fantastic, although it was manageable for a month-long program.
  • A month does not give a lot of time to travel outside of the U.K., so if you are wanting to explore several countries, plan that in advance.

London Met Summer 2022

This was the best summer of my life! I was able to experience so many new things during the program. I was able to go to Stonehenge and the Roman baths. I was also able to go all the way from Wales in the north to Brighton in the south. Oxford was probably my favorite because of all of the historic buildings and culture. It was also fun to experience new foods like the toast sandwich. I would absolutely do another study abroad program again. I recommended studying abroad to everyone in college and high school.

Pros
  • You get to travel to a new country
  • You get to meet new people
  • You get to experience a new culture
Cons
  • It can be uncomfortable to be by yourself
  • You will be away from your family
  • You can bring a limited amount of personal items
