About Program
Middlebury Museum Studies in Oxford offers an exciting opportunity to spend five weeks of the summer in the heart of Oxford, England. You will have access to renowned museums, private houses, and galleries in Oxford, London, and beyond. Here you will meet with a variety of museum professionals from across the sector. In recent years, trips have included the Ashmolean Museum, the Tate and Tate Modern Galleries, Buscot Park, and Stowe House, as well as one week of study at Compton Verney, an 18th-century estate with a fascinating art collection that ranges from Northern Renaissance works to folk art and ancient Chinese bronzes. You will gain hands-on experience and an unparalleled insight into the structure, management and activities of museums. You will also gain a critical introduction to different approaches and theories concerning historic preservation. No other summer program combines these features.
