Elaine is a freelance journalist based in southern California. While at UC Irvine, she studied abroad in Dublin, Ireland before working as a hiking guide in the Swiss Alps. She backpacked solo through South Africa, and delights in traveling to far-flung corners of the world such as Argentina's Tierra del Fuego, South Africa's Transkei, and tiny mountain hamlets in Switzerland. Elaine has explored dozens of countries and every continent except Australia and Antarctica, which are both on her list someday!
