About Program
At ALMA, our mission is to instill El Salvador's youth with the leadership abilities and social awareness necessary to lead their communities towards a positive future. We do this through courses designed to improve self-esteem and foster stong moral awareness. We strive to empower through education and community building, offering free English, art and exercise classes, amongst others.
ALMA is based in Chirilagua, a beautiful and safe town tucked into the mountains of eastern El Salvador. Its location is ideal, being close to both the big city of San Miguel and the quaint fishing town of El Cuco. Beautiful beaches and world class waves are right at hand!
Volunteer duties will include helping with our summer school and after school programs, helping lead excursions for students and contributing with ideas and positivity. This may include leading classes, going on field trips, completing community service projects with students and contributing with ideas to further our mission.
Consider your impact: Volunteering abroad can be a rewarding experience for both volunteers and local communities, and at Go Overseas, we believe all volunteers should have the resources to make informed decisions about the type of volunteer project they want to partake in.
