About Program

Workcamps are the most common form of short-term volunteering, where a group of volunteers work and live together on a project which has been identified by a local community or working with that community. SEEDS workcamps generally last for 2 up to 3 weeks

The types of the projects developed by SEEDS are mainly nature or environmental oriented, and they can be for instance building of walking paths or hiking trails, cleaning of the coastline, reforestation and erosion control works, construction or renovation of a community building, monument or community centre, ecological research, removing invasive growth (luppina), etc...

There are some social, cultural, study, agricultural, archeological, maintenance projects and others depending basically on the identified need of the local community.

Videy Island

Our task was to clean debris that washed ashore on Videy Island, next to Reykjavik, Iceland. There were 7 of us, from seven different countries (ages 20's, 30's and 50's) which made it a unique and very interesting experience. The group leader was fantastic and the social atmosphere superb.
It also felt that the host really appreciated our volunteering as we were offered a free whale watching exploration one afternoon.
During our time with SEEDS we also had 2 full days of exploration (the group choice from an extensive list) which were fantastic.
