About Program

Would you like to help SMILE NGO to bring a smile to the most neglected refugee children living on the street and slums of India?

This project is all about bringing smiles to underprivileged refugee children from the streets of Kolkata. SMILE Society (Situational Management & Inter Learning Establishment Society) is a registered non-profit working for these underprivileged communities around the state of West Bengal since 2003. SMILE's mission is to provide volunteers to make an important contribution to these poor and needy kids (3-8 years). Our foremost goal is to "Bring Smile around" We ensure that all volunteers are provided with a safe and enriching experience.

Our flexible approach means that you will be given a placement to suit your needs and time scale. All international volunteers are also welcome to take part in our programme and provide basic English/Math/Art/Music/ Science. Our unique placements could become the trip of a lifetime.

Consider your impact: Volunteering abroad can be a rewarding experience for both volunteers and local communities, and at Go Overseas, we believe all volunteers should have the resources to make informed decisions about the type of volunteer project they want to partake in. However, despite best intentions, some organizations offering placements in orphanages may unknowingly place children in danger. You can read about the potential dangers of orphanage volunteering here.

Volunteering with SMILENGO

Life was so easy and peaceful at SMILE House ,I never have experienced such wonderful time in my life. Amazing kids and tasty food at host family. Kamala was great is her work. A lady who dedicated her whole life for the charity ! she is a big inspiration for many of us. Overall duty, responsibility , activities, weekends were great.
We were a group of 4 students during my time and we had a great time among ourselves. Members were always helpful and supportive.
SMILE runs many projects round the year where lots of volunteers required. Anyone coming to SMILE should have a great time.
