Rural Nicarguan Education: Classroom Teaching Assistant

Education of Nicaragua’s children is an established high priority for its families, churches, communities, and the national government itself. However, suffering from its extreme economic disadvantage (the second-poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere), quality education remains an elusive goal for many children, especially those in economically poorer areas. PSE has worked with government and community representatives to identify five schools that will benefit most with direct service intervention. Your team will serve within an established school, teaching ESL, math, and other topics depending of your team’s acquaintance with Spanish, and enhance the children’s recess and after-school activities. As well, you will perform minor maintenance and remodeling activities. On closing day, you will leave the school, but not the many new young friends you will know forever.
