About Program

RURAL AGRICULTURE
A rural community sits in the highlands outside of Managua. A former Somoza family- owned coffee plantation, it now is owned and managed cooperatively by the families of the community. Panorama, as the spearhead of Break Away’s Nicaraguan Compact, has inaugurated a long-term effort to assist this community in developing and executing a five year economic re-development plan. This project is integrated into the long-term economic development of Santa Julia. Participants will work side-by-side with members of the Women’s Coffee Cooperative tending to their trees and land. As needed, participants will assist cooperative members with other critically needed tasks. The Panorama vision is that as this plan’s execution draws to an end, La Revolution will have a successful and sustainable economic base upon which to ensure social justice and economic vitality for its inhabitants.
