About Program
This program emphasizes community projects. Needs on the island are numerous, however, People and the Sea identified three main themes: education, waste management, and support to local entrepreneurship.
Take a look at our projects:
Education: recruiting local interns on vacations, organizing Summer Camps for kids, giving Environmental Sciences courses at the elementary schools, support local schools by organizing different activities.
Waste management: promote compost on the island, create gardens, a sorting center and find waste-to-energy solutions.
Support to the local entrepreneurship: develop the Homestay association in charge of the host families welcoming volunteers during their expedition, train guides to become Eco-guides so they can create environmental awareness on the island.
