About Program

We are looking for volunteers to come out and help our brand new elephant sanctuary in Northern Thailand. Our sanctuary has just rescued 4 elephants from the tourism industry & we have now brought them home to live out their lives in the forest, in semi-wild conditions. We need volunteers to help us keep these elephants in their natural habitat, carry out health checks, collect some research on their natural behaviors & on the forest, as well as take part in community projects such as teaching English at the school & to the locals, cutting grass for the elephants during dry season, helping out in the fields & educating the locals & tourists to combat illegal trade. Volunteers will also be expected to help us look after any visitors & educate them on the real elephant situation in Thailand.

Volunteers must pay a fee to cover all expenses, details & bookings are found on our website

Unforgettable!

I volunteered for Kindred Spirit for 1 month in June 2016. It was an amazing experience. Seeing elephants in their natural habitat roaming, foraging and socializing was unforgettable. The staff on the project are very knowledgeable about elephants, conservation and the captive elephant situation in Thailand. Of course the elephants were the highlight, but immersing myself in another culture was truly amazing. My homestay family along with the mahouts and other villagers were so welcoming, opening their homes and showing me their way of life. I had the time of my life, an experience I will never forget!

What would you improve about this program?
The staff mentioned adding bamboo rafting as a weekend add-on activity which I think is a great idea!
