About Program

Care for Dogs welcomes volunteers from all walks of life. There is no fee to volunteer for our nonprofit foundation and your hard work will truly make a difference in the lives of every dog you touch.

Video and Photos

Our shelter in Hangdong, SE of Chiang Mai, Thailand and is about a 20 minutes drive from the popular tourist center/ancient moat area. Basic accommodation may also be rented closer to the shelter for those who prefer a quieter environment in a real Thai community.

Volunteer orientations are held Wednesdays at 10:00 in the morning and also at other times by appointment.

Volunteer duties at the shelter usually start with socializing, walking, bathing, cleaning… but once you have been there a few days volunteers do get asked to do more and more. You may be asked to help with veterinary treatments in our clinic one day and asked to join us at an adoption fair the next.

At Care for Dogs our volunteers are welcome to choose what they wish to participating in.

Care for Dogs' experience

This organization is fantastic!! The care and compassion that this group provides to dogs in dire needs is simply AMAZING! The staff and volunteers pour their hearts into the rescues and it was a blessing to witness the transformations that had happened for these dogs!

If you do go out to volunteer, remember to bring something extra for the dogs! The organization's budget is really limited because the need is so great (for spay/neuter and emergency surgeries) so the doggies could really benefit from extra warm towels, dog food, dog treats, good leashes, or extra donations!!
