A more independent Jordan option

The Qasid institute is an excellent option if you're a (American) college student hoping to get credits (transferred through CSU SB) for your study abroad semester/quarter, but not looking to break the bank! Qasid per week of study is about 1/5 the price of a regular US-led study abroad program. The cost you're not paying involves the responsibility that falls on you to deal with social & personal & logistical in-country details - you can find housing on your own or live in Qasid's dorms, but I got myself an apartment and have found it a cheaper and better option. Qasid puts in very little effort to cultivate a social scene, so while various cultural immersion activities are offered your social life should be self-driven. If you're dedicated to shaping your own life in Amman and having fun, however, you'll do great!
