Review

Our two sons (12 and 10) participated joined the kids' summer camp in Beijing (day camp) for two weeks in July 2023. They had a great time overall. They particularly enjoyed the daily language classes (wisely scheduled in the afternoons, when it's too hot to go outside), which were challenging yet also highly rewarding. They did their homework every day with enthusiasm and plan to continue using That's Mandarin's teaching materials (books, website with many videos and helpful review exercises) for their weekly lessons back home. Thanks to the effective instruction and methods our children significantly improved their Chinese (advanced beginners) in just two weeks. They also enjoyed the culture classes in the mornings as well as the outings on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Instead of visiting four museums, however, they would have liked to visit some other cultural places as well, such as temples or historical parks (or the ancient observatory at Jianguomen). A wushu class or culinary workshop would also have been a nice addition. We strongly suggest That's Mandarin to make the abovementioned online teaching materials (nihaocafe.com) available as app (for Windows, Android) as well. This would allow participants to more easily review and frequently rehearse the course materials. We warmly recommend this school and hope to come back again in the near future - possibly next year already!
