Overall, I had a great summer in Bangalore. Living on my own in way in India allowed me to grow as a person through becoming more independent and self confident. The cultural aspects of the trip were great - we gained fantastic insight into different parts of Indian culture and society through trips to historical sites, an Indian wedding, a Bollywood movie, and at our workplaces. Interning at a rather large, and prominent hospital in Bangalore gave me an idea of the kind of medical work I would be interested in doing, and what international possibilities were available in the medical industry. Being able to experience another country with the other interns was an amazing experience!

I would definitely recommend trying to place the interns as close together as possible if they request it (for living situations). Both Megan and I felt that for safety reasons and for bonding. Although we were not in life threatening situations, we experienced multiple instances of sexual harassment either while traveling home or near our living situations. Since I was living much farther from the city and the other interns, it was also hard to socialize or learn more about the city.
