Volunteering in Rabat

Hello! My name is Adriana and I was a volunteer with CSM organisation in Morocco. My volunteering took place in a welfare center in Rabat for 1 month. Also during this time I took some classic Arabic and darija courses with the organisation which helped me a lot to feel more integrated during my stay. I had some background knowledge about Arabic and they helped me developed it and gave the bases for the Moroccan dialect.
My experience was amazing and the people from CSM took amazing care of me and helped a lot throughout all the process. I checked other projects they have and I think I will come back for a longer period this time.

What was your funniest moment?
My funniest moments during the programs were the exchanges and conversations we had all together including the workers from the association during lunch or cooking the food. They made me feel completely integrated.

a wonderful adventure

I was in Morocco for 6 months and I had the opportunity to volunteer at a school and to attend a language course. Volunteering in this association means having constant support and the good fortune to immerse yourself in the local culture by sharing unique moments with the staff and other volunteers.
They supported me in developing and proposing activities and projects, I got to visit the desert and the mountains in the North of Morocco. The language course of Darija and Arabic allowed me to integrate more in the community and make my stay rich of unique meetings. I hope to return very soon!

Great intercultural experience with lovely people

Hamid is a great local guide with a deep knowledge of history.
Moreover, his personal investment in volunteerism is key in the welcoming of volunteers from worldwide as well as in the organisation of help for local people in need.
I had a great experience, in particular also thanks to my great host sister Leila.
I made friends for a lifetime and had already returned to visit them, participating in their big family events.
Looking forward to returning to my Moroccan family and friends again very soon.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Travel with zero expectations and 100% tolerance and let yourself be overwhelmed by great hospitality.

Great Experience

I participated in a program run by Hamid at CSM. It was excellently run and our opportunity to mix with locals and see the city from a resident's point of view was invaluable. Aside from being able to learn Arabic, the centre organised a number of excellent excursions for us. And we were able to help to do some maintenance work in Chellah, which gave us an insider's look at the necropolis. Since then I've been back to visit a number of times, to brush up on my Arabic, and it's always been a pleasure to see the CSM guys again.

Immersed in Rabat for one month

I participated in the arabic course organised by CSM in Rabat in July 2023. I took the course in Fushā, and the lessons were very challenging but aldo very interesting. Aminar, the teacher, was patient and competent and also fun during the lessons. Hamid and the rest of the staff at CSM were usually available to help me whenever I needed it and they were also very hospitable and friendly during my time in Rabat.
I will always remember Mustafa and his family, they are the people who hosted me in the old part of the city. They showed great hospitality and were very kind to me, making me feel at home in their house.
