About Program
Occidental offers internships in our oil and gas and chemical divisions to students with educational backgrounds in Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical, Petrochemical, and Electrical Engineering; Geophysics and Geology; Land Management; and Health, Environment and Safety (HES). We also offer a limited number of internships for students with backgrounds in other disciplines.
Occidental internships typically last 10 to 12 weeks. Students are given a lot of responsibility and are expected to assist in developing new projects, contribute to existing research and operations, and become familiar with various aspects of the industry. Interns are treated much like newly hired employees, and the contributions they make can be significant.
