Why did you decide to intern and study abroad with CAPA in London?
Emily: I decided to study abroad with CAPA because I really liked the courses they offered. All the classes held some type of field trip or out of classroom facet of learning I found very intriguing. CAPA emphasizes that not all learning takes place in the classroom and it important to become acquainted with the global learning environment. I learned so much about the city of London not just from living there but also from studying there and attending classes. I got to tour museums and partake in activities I never would have thought of without someone from CAPA scheduling and planning it. I could not have been happier with my time in London and especially with my time at CAPA.
What made this experience unique and special?
Emily: What made this experience unique and special were the friends I made through studying abroad. I made so many friends that I still keep in contact with and that made the experience so much fun. The laughs and memories I have from London and the other places we traveled made this experience so unique and special. If I would have studied abroad with other people it would have been a very different experience. The girls I lived with and the friends I made I will have forever all from this experience.
How has this experience impacted your future?
Emily: Studying abroad has definitely impacted my future. From my classes I have really started to have an interest in advertising that I did not have before. I also really want to live abroad in the future. I would definitely consider taking jobs that have an option for international relocation. Studying abroad has sparked in interest in traveling and experiencing new cultures.
What was the highlight of your experience?
Emily: The highlight of my experience was traveling. CAPA classes are set up to accommodate internships but if you did not have an internship it gave you plenty of time to travel. I only had classes Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday so I was free to travel any weekend I wanted too. I stayed in London a lot because it is such a great city but I also really loved traveling. I think my favorite place I visited was Budapest, Hungary.
What is one piece of advice you would offer someone considering interning and studying abroad in London?
Emily: DO IT! London is the best city in the world no matter your interests. There is so much history, beauty, and fun to be experienced there. It is so close to Europe so you can travel all over and it really is just the best experience you will ever have in your life. Do not be afraid and just go for it. You have everything to gain and nothing to lose. I don't know anyone who regrets studying abroad or anyone who had a bad experience.
