Alumni Spotlight: Rosamaria Cimamodo

Rosamaria Cimamodo is a 24 year old student from Italy who completed a 10 weeks internship in Events Management in Sydney. She applied for an English + Internship Program at an University in Queensland who has a partnership with her University in Milan. She decided to take this opportunity and improve her skills in the exotic and dynamic Australia.

Why did you decide to intern abroad with Australian Internships?

Rosamaria: I decided to intern abroad with AI thanks to my university in Milan which was advertising this amazing opportunity on the university website. So when I found out I just thought it was exactly what I had been looking for!

What made this intern abroad experience unique and special?

Rosamaria: There are several reasons for this. First of all the location: Australia is an amazing, dynamic country and it naturally attracts everyone. Secondly, the outstanding quality of the internship opportunities as well as AI support during every single stage of this experience.

Where was your best photo taken and what was it of?

Rosamaria: I have taken several pictures and it’s difficult to say which one is my favorite, anyway I’d say that selfies with koalas and kangaroos are among my favorite!

Describe your most meaningful souvenir and why you love it?

Rosamaria: My favorite souvenir is my host organization hoodie, I wore it in some of the best trips here in Australia and still smells like koalas.

What was the best place you visited outside of your intern abroad city?

Rosamaria: The best trip ever was to Fraser Island, one of the most outstanding and wildest places ever seen.

Do you think this program changed you as a person?

Rosamaria: Absolutely. I don’t feel the same person anymore. Now I’m more self-confident, independent and motivated. It’s like growing up 10 years in few months in a positive way.

How has this experience impacted your future?

Rosamaria: Nothing will be the same after this experience. It contributed to widen my horizons as well as enhance my career opportunities. After this, I think I will never look for jobs in my own country.

Tell us about an experience you had that you could not have had at home.

Rosamaria: Working for my host organization, I had the opportunity to travel across the country: Queensland, NSW... meeting people from the film industry, experiencing different cultures within Australia.

What is one piece of advice you'd give future Australian Internships students?

Rosamaria: Don’t waste time, enjoy every single moment of this unique experience with a smile upon your face. It is once in a lifetime experience.

What was the highlight of your experience?

Rosamaria: The highlight of my experience was the Travelling Film Festival in Cairns. We have been working on this event for weeks and I was so excited of being there. However, I never thought they would ask me to introduce an Italian film in from of the audience. It was one of the most exciting moments ever.

Describe your day to day activities as an intern in Australia.

Rosamaria: The thing I really like was the fact that I did not have a proper routine. Every day was busy, dynamic and different from the other in a positive way. Someday I spent the time in the office and the following day I found myself in Cairns introducing a film at the opening night for the Travelling Film Festival.
