Best Dive Shop to do Divemaster Training

Blue Corner Dive has an amazing environment and people. My Divemaster mentor was Elise Dixon, she’s such a good mentor, but also all staff is easily reachable at any instance. I loved the flexibility and that we assisted different instructors providing a wide overview of styles and practices. Is such good fun that the training goes amazingly fast and then you don’t want to leave!

I went in the beginning of low season and still end up meeting a lot of people and making friends for life! Thank you BCD Team!

I LOVE BLUE CORNER!

I did my DM training at Blue Corner and loved every second of it. The team at Blue Corner is amazing. The diving is beautiful. You get the opportunity to explore all the different dive sites they have to offer, both leading the dives and assisting on other training dives. The training is thorough and professional - I came as an already very experienced diver and feel I learned so much. I feel extremely prepared to handle new situations underwater and a new sense of comfort with all my diving skills. Everybody I met was so lovely, welcoming, warm and fun. I had the best time ever in Nusa Lembongan and can’t wait to go back soon.

A life experience

Blue Corner Marine Research offers an unparalleled opportunity to combine adventure, education, and conservation in one of the most biodiverse marine environments in the world. Located in the heart of the Coral Triangle, often referred to as the "Amazon of the Seas," this organization provides participants with a chance to explore vibrant underwater ecosystems while contributing meaningfully to their preservation. Whether you are a seasoned diver or a newcomer eager to make a difference, this program offers a perfect blend of hands-on learning and personal growth.

One of the highlights of Blue Corner Marine Research is the emphasis on safety and enjoyment during dives. The region’s calm and crystal-clear waters make it an ideal location for divers of all experience levels. Beyond recreational diving, participants are immersed in an educational journey that covers reef ecology, identification of Indo-Pacific species, and the intricate relationships that sustain these ecosystems. This knowledge not only enhances your diving experience but also transforms the way you perceive and interact with marine environments.

A standout feature of the program is its focus on reef restoration. Participants learn cutting-edge techniques to rehabilitate damaged coral reefs, following internationally recognized standards and the latest updates in marine science. This aspect of the program is particularly impactful, as it equips participants with practical skills to address one of the most pressing challenges facing marine ecosystems today. From understanding coral fragmentation and transplantation to monitoring restored areas, you’ll gain hands-on experience that can be applied globally.

The program is designed to be comprehensive and adaptable, catering to a wide range of interests and goals. Whether you're looking to enhance your recreational diving skills or pursue a career in marine conservation, Blue Corner Marine Research has you covered. Their CEMAS certification is highly respected and opens doors to opportunities worldwide, allowing graduates to work or volunteer on marine conservation projects across the globe. This credential ensures that you leave the program not only with newfound knowledge but also with professional qualifications that set you apart.

The location itself is breathtaking. Nestled in the Coral Triangle, this region boasts the highest marine biodiversity on the planet, making every dive an unforgettable experience. The vibrant corals, schools of tropical fish, and occasional sightings of larger marine animals such as manta rays and sharks create a sense of wonder and appreciation for the ocean’s beauty and complexity.

In addition to its scientific and recreational components, the program fosters a sense of community and shared purpose. You’ll work alongside like-minded individuals from around the world, forming connections that often extend beyond the program. Together, you’ll contribute to meaningful conservation efforts while creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Blue Corner Marine Research is more than a diving program—it’s a transformative experience. By combining education, skill-building, and hands-on conservation work, it empowers participants to make a tangible difference in marine ecosystems while gaining invaluable personal and professional benefits. Saving the coral reefs

In my 3 week program in Nusa Lembongan island I learned so much about coral reefs
and really improved my diving skills. It was such a fun way to meet other like-minded people! Some of the other interns stayed at guesthouses in the village but I decided to stay in their dormitory at the beach - which was social as other students who were doing conservation and diving programs at Blue Corner Dive were also staying on-site. In the 3 weeks we dived almost every day with marine biologists learning all about coral reef species and ecosystems. The program leaders Egi, Yas and Andrew are all so much fun and knowledgable about marine life!

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
We saw a mola mola (sunfish) right at the coral restoration site while we were diving! Most mornings are spent underwater identifying different species on the reef, monitoring or transplanting coral so often we are so focused on the what we are doing that we almost didn't see the HUGE fish right beside us!
Pros
  • AMAZING diving!
  • Life-long memories and friends
  • new passion unlocked (coral restoration)!
Cons
  • small island so the wifi is not always fast

Interview

What is your favorite travel memory?

After a number of years working with Blue Corner Dive I was able to start to travel and explore some of the great diving in Indonesia. I was invited on a live aboard trip to see Whalesharks in Cenderwashi Bay. The trip was a complete surprise to me until we got to the airport. What a magical surprise and opportunity to be on a boat, exploring some of the fantastic diving my country has to offer.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

I enjoy diving here in the area and will show all of his guests the large pelagics as well as some of the smaller critters on the reef.

I started out as a PADI Divemaster, after some time Made worked diligently to become a PADI Instructor and assistant manager of Blue Corner Dive, after years of dedication and continuous learning I earned his way up the PADI ladder from Divemaster to Instructor to IDC Staff to Master Instructor and finally PADI Course director.

I now work full time on the IDC Lembongan Programs at Blue Corner Dive and hold the highest rating within the PADI system of Platinum Course Director.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

I love having our students return to do more courses with us or more fun diving. We have a great team of instructors and divers that attract people to coming back and visiting us. I think what impresses and surprises our guests is that there is always one or two or ALL of the staff who remember you and remember your name.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

The answer is obvious... I would do my instructor course again with Blue Corner Dive. During the course you learn so much and the friendships that are established during the course are life long. I am still friends with the people that I did my IDC with. The journey during the IDC is intense and the friendships gained are an undeniably strong bond.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

Blue Corner works hard to support and develop the local community has has gained a positive relationship with the people of Nusa Lembongan. I am proud to work for a company that values the local people. As a company Blue Corner Dive respects the local community, local religion and promotes environmental programs to protect our reef and our fish.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

Blue Corner Dive has always been a family. No matter how busy or slow we are we have remained a family first company where Blue Corner Dive values its employees and their families above all else. Blue Corner Dive values our service and promotes employees in house and has many opportunities for personal and professional growth.
