Spain and Portugal are Amazing!

During the summer of 2023 I took a trip to Spain and Portugal with Travel for Teens. We explored many parts of both countries, and a couple stood out above the rest. I vividly remember scuba diving off the coast of Lagos, Portugal with a really fun group of people that I still keep in touch with today. We saw an octopus and it even shot some ink at us as it zoomed away. That day was one of my favorites I have ever had in my life, and it would not have been possible without TFT. Another highlight of the trip was the group of people I got to experience it with. If I had been traveling with my family or on my own I could have still visited the same places, but I wouldn’t have gotten the same experience or the lifelong connections that I ended up with. The nights in my hotel room playing cards and talking with the others on the trip could not be replaced by anything. I would highly recommend taking a trip with TFT, and I am absolutely thrilled that I decided to.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
The only thing I would have changed was that I would have gone to Morocco with the trip instead of going home after Spain and Portugal. It was a great trip and I just wanted to experience more of it! There were 2 trips which were connected and I chose the shorter one, but next time I would do the full experience.

TFT December 2023 trip to Thailand

I heard about TFT from my friend in the United States who had used TFT before, and he told me that he had a fantastic experience. He shared some photos of places he had visited, which were terrific. Upon arriving in Thailand, I met the TFT group counselor at the airport and headed to the hotel. On our way to the hotel, we stopped at the 911 shop, got some snacks, and continued our journey. After one hour, we finally arrived, and they showed us the rooms where we were staying. We later went to the village for community service, which was amazing because we learned how to cook Thai food! Then we went to the elephant farm, fed the elephants, and learned a lot. We went for a bike ride on the rice farm and saw how they plant rice, which was a good experience for those of us who had never seen anything like that. Later, we headed back to the hotel, and the TFT counselor called everyone for a meeting where they spoke to us about their expectations of our conduct, briefed us on the itinerary that had been shared with us before, and then proceeded to dinner. The following day, we headed to the island by a boat, and it took us around 2 hours. Once we arrived, everyone was so excited to see the beautiful blue ocean and forgot the long journey. We had an exciting time exploring many cities in Thailand, and I took lots of photos for memories. I never knew the beauty that existed in Thailand until I went there myself.

My teen tour trip

This summer was my first time going on a teen tour. I had so many fun experiences like zip lining, seeing and helping sea turtles and making new friends throughout the entire trip. Everyday was so much fun learning about the culture and seeing things that you don’t have back at your home. We learned how to adapt to the culture that is all around us.The foods you try you will want to bring back to your family and friends to spread the experience. I liked that the tour allows you to have your phones but you really never want to be on your phone while away. The only times are to talk to your family and to take photos. The counselors are so outgoing, positive and fun to be with and talk to. They take such good care of you trying to make sure you have the best trip possible. There’s so many to choose from that your kids will have an amazing time making many memories.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
I tried pineapple on my cheese burger.
Pros
  • Meeting new friends
  • Getting to know people from different places
  • Doing fun new adventures
Cons
  • Not knowing anyone
  • Had to get use to new foods
  • Flighting by myself to meet everyone

The fun I had!

In the summer of 2023, I went to Spain with Travel For Teens. I got to be enhanced in the culture, got to taste unique flavors and make everlasting memories. While going to beautiful beaches in the sunny weather, visiting the most beautiful churches, flaminco dancing, to cooking classes, I am pleased to say I enjoyed everything we did in Spain. Everyone was so nice, welcoming and friendly. The hotels were super nice and I felt very safe in them, and the freedom of the whole trip was amazing. I can count on everyone I am there with and I couldn’t be happier to have gone on that trip. I have grown as a person being able to travel there with other teens, and I am so lucky to have been on this trip. This is definitely a trip everyone needs to experience at least once in their life.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
My advice to future travelers is to get out of your comfort zone. There might be some activities that you might be nervous about or some activities that don’t sound fun. You just have to get out there and try everything. The counselors are always there to talk and you can always feel comfortable talking with them. Don’t overpack because on the lengthier trips, you can do laundry and you don’t need extra clothes most of the time. And most of all try not to bring expensive items. They can get stolen or you can loose them very easily so be careful!
Pros
  • the counselors and how funny and approachable they are
  • the hotels and living situations were always great
  • the transportation felt safe and comfortable
Cons
  • the time management
  • some of the kids on the trip
  • the informational historical tours

Once-In-A-Lifetime Experience

Visiting Fiji was something I never thought I would be able to do without Travel for Teens, especially at only 15 years old! The counselors felt like close friends, which made our group even more special and close. I was able to not only see the extraordinary islands of Fiji and do thrilling and fun activities, I was also able to go good for the community while I was there as well. Interacting with the amazing students and natives of Fiji was truly my favorite part and I will remember those moments forever! I left the trip with multiple things checked off my bucket list, new lasting friendships, cherished memories and an even better version of myself! I had such an amazing time!

Pros
  • Culture
  • Beautiful Islands
  • New friendships

Europe for older teens- Greece Island Hopping

Going to Greece has always been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. This trip is filled with rich history and culture, amazing food and hotels. While on this trip I got to experience an authentic greek cooking class, scuba diving in Santorini and many other wonderful experiences while making lifelong memories and friendships. Going with travel for teens I got to experience things i never would've know about if I was to go on my own. I would recommend this trip to anyone wanting to learn about the history of Greece or living out their Mamma Mia dreams. I will be forever grateful to TFT for providing this experience for me and other teens.

The most amazing experience!

This was my second year attending a travel for teens trip and I have loved every moment of it. This past trip to Barcelona and Paris was truly an incredible experience that I will never forget. Not only did I love the friendships I made with people who I still talk to to this day but I also just love the opportunities that I was able to have because of this trip. These were two places that I had never been to before and after this trip, I want to go back immediately. I loved how we got to immerse ourselves in the culture of both places while still being able to have fun and experience life away from home. This trip was the perfect balance of learning and gaining new knowledge along with enjoying a relaxing summer and a beautiful country. My favorite thing that we did in Barcelona was the Bike Tour because I loved being able to see a lot of the city at once and learn from a local about the incredible history of the area. While in Paris my favorite thing was visiting the Eiffel Tower and trying all of the incredible food pastries and desserts. The staff was amazing and truly helped make this experience one of a kind, Not only were they light-hearted and funny and kind but they were also intelligent and knew a lot about travel and about different areas, therefore They were able to teach me lots of new great information.

Pros
  • New friendships to last a lifetime.
  • Experiences with new cultures.
  • Incredible food and housing.
Cons
  • Wish I would have never had to leave.

Wonderful trip

It was very beautiful in Ireland, and we got to explore very popular places but we also were able to go to less known places. Everywhere we went we were able to choose what activities we wanted to do. We went to achill island which was the highlight of the trip and got to swim in a bog, surf paddle board and hang out with friends we made on the trip. We got to go on hikes with locals that would tell us what the history of whatever place we were in, and hear stories from many people. We also were able to try all of the local foods, which were homemade and very scrumptious. It was a wonderful experience.

Pros
  • All the friends I made
  • The views that we saw
  • The activities we did
Cons
  • Only the showers were kinda cold
  • Just the showers
  • Probably the chilly showers
