About Program
During this 2-week program in Belize, you'll gain plenty of hands-on experience at working ranches and farms with large animals including horses, sheep, pigs, and cattle. Students will gain knowledge of the husbandry and health issues confronting these animals as well as the opportunity to learn about animal agriculture in Belize.
An introductory course, students will be introduced to basic concepts and principles of animal nutrition, growth, health, behavior, reproduction, and genetics, as well as practical commercial applications, such as ration formulation, disease prevention, artificial insemination, genetic selection, and crossbreeding systems. Lectures will be supplemented by labs and field trips to local farms to make this an intensive but fun and hands-on experience abroad!
