About Program
In the fall semester of their senior year, students enroll in an International Research and Internship Semester (IRIS). The IRIS program is developed by the student during their third year by identifying a global challenge or issue they wish to investigate in depth. With direction by LIU faculty, students become deeply acquainted with their chosen topic and the responses to the issue/challenge being developed around the world. Students also choose an LIU approved global location in which to engage directly with their identified challenge and develop a research proposal for further investigation. Finally, students also identify and secure an internship with a company or organization whose activities are relevant to their research. Once all this groundwork is laid, students will execute their proposal the fall semester of their final year with LIU Global, the IRIS semester.
