Summer Abroad at the University of Westminster in London

My time abroad in London, England was one that I have not stopped thinking about after arriving back in America! At the University of Westminster I was able to take a course called "Photographing the City" which allowed for a fun and creative way to view the city. We were each given our own digital camera to use and had our professor be our own personal tour guide as we explored and photographed various different parts of the city. I really enjoyed how this program was not just in the classroom. During the school day the class was able to go out and indulge in all London had to offered as we learned techniques that would improve our photographing capabilities. I have never taken a class similar to this, and I would really recommend taking a course abroad that allows you to be out in the culture of the foreign country. From the academics to exploring the city, it was an overall memorable experience.

Pros
  • Easy Transportation!
  • So many things to do around the city and easy transportation out of the city to explore other cities in England

Definitely recommend!!

CIS Abroad was a great company to study abroad with. I applied after a friend had recommended them to me, and I’m so glad I did!! Summer in London was amazing! They offered so many activities so you were able to meet tons of people, not just the people you had classes with. My class was interesting and we took field trips to break up the week. Also, the dorms were really nice and very clean. If you stay in the marylebone dorms, definitely go around the corner to bills for breakfast!!

Review

I had the absolute best time studying abroad! CISAbroad offers so many excursions and activities - things I actually wanted to do. They also kept us together a lot during the first few days so we could make friends quickly. I thought the scavenger hunt was a good bonding activity idea because you're not just sitting there, you're actually doing something fun. I stayed in Marlyebone Hall and absolutely loved it, aside from London's lack of AC (Luckily I was able to buy a fan!). I was a short walk from everything I could ever want or need, and truly had the greatest experience thanks to CISAbroad.
