Incredible Experience at Berklee, Valencia Summer Abroad

I came into Berklee College of Music having had only a few months of experience using Digital Audio Workstations for electronic music production. Two out of six weeks in, I feel my creative potential expanding in ways that I never imagined. It's easy to let your bias prevent you from believing in your ability to produce satisfactory material as a musician, and this program has given me all the opportunities to realize how limiting and pointless self-doubt is. The class on Ableton Live, specifically, is executed perfectly. I leave every class empowered and inspired to share my musical voice, more confident in my knowledge of a very innovative software. My class on music video production, although outside of my comfort zone, has also pushed me to consider my artistry in new ways, helping me realize that music and video can go well together when one is an independent musician. From the social side of things, I've met such amazing people on this program. Although from different walks of life, speaking different languages, and pursuing different dreams in the industry, we're united by our passion for music, and I will hold these connections dear. Not to mention, the location of the program is simply perfect for a summer of personal transformation; the city of Valencia is rich with culture, visually breathtaking, and has unforgettable night life. Anyone who loves music and is maybe unsure about how to work it into a career path and is willing to throw themselves into a new experience, both culturally and academically, would thrive at this program. I highly recommend.

What would you improve about this program?
I wish the program directors had been more helpful with the acquisition of housing and the total cost of the program; tuition is very high and it does not cover travel, cost of living, or housing. So many expenses have piled up for me and it's disappointing that the school was not able to offer any financial assistance at all, as this can create a disparity in the types of students who are able to enjoy this program.

Music and Entertainment Business Summer Study - Berklee College of Music

Deciding to take the Music and Entertainment Business program wasn't an easy decision back then. I´d already graduated from the marketing career and I was working at a multinational company, what means I had to quit a job and take a chance. After giving it a lot of thought I decided to go for it, and now I can say it was totally worth it. Berklee is an amazing university, not only because of it´s beautiful infrastructure, but mainly due to the teachers and the students that attend it. You get in touch with experienced people who can fill you with a lot of their stories and give you the possibility to ask and explore the business as much as you want to. But the most meaningful thing to me was that I was surrounded by passionate people who dare to do what they really love. And also, not in every university you get to walk down the halls and listen to people sing or play an instrument from another room...
After years and years of search I feel like I now how an idea of where I want to go and how to get started. My tip: do what you love to do, no matter what people may say. People usually regret what they didn´t do rather than what they did do. Therefore, if you want to take a program even if its just for pleasure do it because you never know where it will take you. And always ask as many questions as you can!

What would you improve about this program?
I received the admission decision quite close to the date of the start of the program, and there were a lot of things I needed to take care of before getting on the plane. I would've prefer it´d been sooner so that I could've had more time to organise for the trip.

Amazing program

It really helped me out in my artistic development studying music production with John and Pablo who are excellent teachers in his areas and I have met great talented people from around the world.
The experience of recording my music in the outstanding studios of Berklee was really a game changer for my music formation.
Valencia is also a beautiful and culture filled place to visit and learn about with plenty of musicians and artists to meet at every corner

What would you improve about this program?
This program could be improved by giving attendance certificates to the students

Summer in Spain

The program at Berklee is so intense, that that there is barely anytime outside of the music computer. However, this is a good thing. They told us that they would fit a semester into 3 weeks and they meant it. I feel like my time was well spent though. I learned so many amazing things from incredibly talented professors and it definitely taught me so many things. I just gradated from undergrad and this experience has made me more confident in applying for grad school and jobs. I have already been accepted to a few graduate programs and I know that my experience at Berklee gave me a leg up on the competition. Some of my favorite experiences is actually from my working in the lab. We really got to talk with the graduate students.

What would you improve about this program?
To be honest, the only way I could think of improving it is by making it longer. The program was amazing, but I know that there was so much more that I professors wanted to teach us if they had the time.

Summer in Berklee

For me, the summer study abroad was one of the most important decisions that I have take in my life for opening my international networks in music and to open new possibilities as a musician.
I had the chance to share my talent with the other students from the study abroad program and with master students that they where studying in that time.
Thanks to that, Im currently studying the Master degree in contemporary performance and now I have an amazing and challenging future in music with a huge network of international talented musicians to work with in the future.
