IFSA doesn't believe in the nickel-and-dime approach to the study abroad experience. All of our programs include events and excursions exclusively for our students throughout their time abroad. We see these extras as a part of the larger academic experience. There are no hidden fees or expenses on an IFSA program. All of our fees, deposits and any supplemental charges such as meal plans are clearly outlined in our program fees.

IFSA has awarded millions of dollars in merit- and need-based scholarships over the past five years. Awards range from $500 to $5,000. We also believe that study abroad should be within the reach of every student, so we offer a wide range of scholarships and financing opportunities for our students.

Studying Abroad in Barcelona

Studying abroad in Barcelona with IFSA was a great experience. My favorite part about going through this program was that there were so many different excursions and activities that were planned for us students. This was a great way to get to know the city, and immerse yourself in the culture rather than trying to do it on your own. Additionally, there were no classes on Friday which made it easy to be able to travel and see other places outside of Barcelona and Spain. This truly made my trip being able to experience all different locations.

Amazing Study Abroad Experience

Studying abroad in Barcelona, specifically through IFSA was an amazing experience, to say the least. If it weren't for IFSA, my study abroad journey would not have been possible. Since my original plans of studying abroad in Asia were affected due to COVID-19, IFSA worked with me around the clock to help me find a city that fit my needs and make a study abroad trip possible. The teachers and program staff at the IFSA center were incredibly helpful and accommodating, and they implemented many field trips and excursions that gave us the opportunity to learn more about Barcelona. The city itself was incredible and has many attractions for study abroad students. Overall the experience was amazing and was one of the highlights of my college years.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
The first day I arrived in the city I was incredibly nervous, but the staff at IFSA made me feel incredibly welcomed and gave me all the information I needed so I would know what to expect.

Life Changing.

If I had to describe my experience studying abroad in two words, those words would be life changing. Studying and living in a foreign country opens your eyes up to so many things, and IFSA Butler helps you in many ways. The staff is so supportive and by the end of your time abroad, you will return home with so many new incredible experiences and an IFSA family. If I could study abroad again, I would not change anything about my experience.

What would you improve about this program?
Give the students more information before they go. I spend the summer feeling out of the loop. I didn't know where I was living, what job I was working or what to expect at all. Once I arrived in Barcelona everything was very clear to me. But I would have liked more information throughout the summer to prepare myself mentally.
