About Program
In partnership with experts in Zavora, Mozambique, we offer aspiring scientists and conservationists a world-class opportunity to train and work in marine research. Interns gather marine and terrestrial data under the guidance of expert marine biologists, gaining experience in research, database management, science communication, and community outreach. The role includes collecting data on key species like manta rays, sharks, humpback whales, and seahorses in a relatively untouched marine ecosystem. Interns gain practical knowledge about environmental protection and the beauty of remote southern Mozambique's coastline. Open to marine biology students and passionate divers, our program welcomes all who are eager to contribute to marine science, with prior diving certification recommended as conditions can be challenging. Scuba training, as well as a number of other bespoke opportunities in marine conservation.

Program Impact
Interns taking part in our marine biology internship can expect to get practical and theoretical training during the first and second weeks. Interns begin data collection after learning sampling and identification techniques. Research assistance and supervision are provided for the duration of interns’ stay, however interns are ultimately expected to work independently in order to achieve their personal goals, as well as our projects aims. Our internship program is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to exciting marine research and conservation projects, as well as experience the achievements associated with ambitious and challenging marine research in Africa.
