Face painting with Volunteers

Globalteer's own children's educational project helps disadvantaged children in a small village on the outskirts of Cusco get ahead by providing them access to educational support. Volunteers work with project staff assisting with English, arts & crafts, and computing classes. You will also help out with sports & games and in the kindergarten. This is a great opportunity to get experience working with children while also practicing some Spanish skills and seeing some true Peruvian culture.

Volunteer with rescued dog at dog shelter in Cusco

Anyone who has visited Cusco will tell you about the numbers of dogs wandering the street. Unfortunately many of the street dogs suffer from illnesses, injuries and sadly, abuse. But luckily there are some great shelters rescuing dogs to care for them! Volunteers help local shelter staff care for the dogs - feeding them, cleaning their areas, grooming them, and mostly importantly showing them lots of love & affection! Spend your days with these loving dogs in the magnificent city of Cusco!

Rescued baby squirrel monkey at Peruvian Wildlife Shelter

Volunteer in the Peruvian Amazon for an unforgettable jungle experience while helping rescued wildlife. Help care for, rehabilitate and hopefully release these wonderful animals back to the wild when possible. At any time the animals at the sanctuary varies, but generally includes a variety of monkeys, birds, reptiles, mammals and the occasional sloth! Volunteers stay on sight at the sanctuary in simple bungalows for a true amazon experience!

Volunteer in the Peruvian Amazon

This volunteer program allows you to help conservation efforts in the amazon as a research assistant. Experience the beauty of the Peruvian Amazon while you gain new skills and learn all about amazon conservation efforts to protect the rainforest and its wealth of species. Volunteers assist with a range of conservation tasks including forest regeneration, animal monitoring (birds, mammals, amphibians, butterflies and reptiles), bio gardening, capacity building, and agroforestry.

Amazing experience

I volunteered with Picaflor House in November 2018 for couple of weeks
Globalteer team put children into their heart and they direct you accordingly during your volunteer program. The kids are amazing, teachers are so helpful and everything is so well organized that you don’t have anything to worry about.
I can’t stop talking & thinking about this amazing experience I had!
Wish others would also find the opportunity and be as lucky as I am to have such an amazing experience!
Thanks much for this great experience
I spent time with helping the little ones at kinder garden, playing sport, teaching English, joining art class ,helping the coordinators...
Each and every task was fun, well organized and was a pleasure with kids,
I really hope I can repeat this experience in Cusco or somewhere else.

What would you improve about this program?
With more volunteers!Everything is well organized nut of course would be much better with more volunteers. We can provide much more to those kids both financially and giving our time

I will always cherish the experience in Peru

I grew up on a farm and have been passionate about helping animals all my life. I particularly connect with dogs so wanted to volunteer to help dogs in need. I already have experience volunteering with dogs at home but wanted to take on the challenge of helping at a shelter overseas.

The project did not disappoint, I was able to get stuck in straight away and the dogs were amazing, really friendly and loving despite their horrific backgrounds. The work was as expected but probably more rewarding than back home knowing these dog’s stories.

Cusco is a wonderful place to volunteer, beautiful city and friendly people. The staff and other volunteers were great. I never felt alone in the hostel, great place to socialise.

I would highly recommend!

Wonderful Dogs!

I absolutely love all dogs so decided to combine my holiday with helping dogs in another country again. This project was amazing, the shelter owners were so passonate and there love for dogs was obvious. They worked so hard for many years to care for dogs in Cusco, I was inspired by their dedication!

The problem for dogs in Peru is huge, attitudes are different and there are so many dogs on the streets.

The support at this project was wonderful, Globalteer has an office in Cusco, so the staff were always there and available when I needed help. When I volunteered overseas before though a different organisation, their office was back home and support was via email so not so good as this project, especially as I have not really travelled independantly.

The children never failed to make me smile

I made some wonderful friends that I'm still in contact with, the children never failed to make me smile even when I missed home - and Peru is a beautiful country with such lovely people. The Project Manager was amazing, I had a few problems during my stay and she sorted them quickly for me. Globalteer’s Development Manager was also very helpful, preparing lessons and assisting in the lessons amongst other things.
The Picaflor House Manager was great, always smiling and helping me with my Spanish. Generally, the other volunteers were like-minded people who I made friends with and remain in contact with.
I would definitely recommend Globalteer to anyone. They were professional and supportive throughout. Their staff are lovely and really helped me out. I also like the fact that a lot of the money goes towards the project. You can see where your money goes and how much the kids appreciate the program.
If you’re on the fence and not quite sure then take my advice and go for it. It was the best thing I've ever done. I met amazing people and had a great time and I felt I made a difference to the children's lives. Please tell my story to as many people as you can and get more volunteers to the projects!

Volunteered in Peru

I took my time to find the right organisation as I wanted to volunteer for a real charity and not some kind of travel agency or commercial company. I was not disappointed at all with Globalteer. It is a great organisation doing great work. They have a great support network and staff on the ground to help out all the volunteers. There was plenty of things to do and the location was just wonderful! I would highly recommend Globalteer!

Just what I was looking for!

I was so impressed with the staff at this project, so dedicated to the rescued animals. I was looking to help out in some small way and i found just what I was looking for at this sanctuary.

The work is rewarding and all the volunteers worked hard and we had a great time together. It was great to see the animals every day and just amazing when a rescued animal was able to be released. Thankyou to all at the Peru Sanctuary... you are amazing!

Peru Volunteering with Globalteer

What I loved most about volunteering was my interactions with the children. My favourite memory was the kids teaching me their native language. They speak Quechua at home and now I know a few phrases!

I was super happy with my experience with Globalteer, but I was very sad to leave it all behind. Two weeks went by so quickly but those two weeks I spent volunteering with Globalteer in Peru were the happiest of my life.
