Volunteer Abroad, Community Service and Project-based learning, Alternative Breaks in Puerto Rico for Students and other Groups
- Puerto Rico
About Program
Developing Solidarity works with community-based organizations in Puerto Rico coordinating costumized volunteer abroad, community and project-based service learning and alternative breaks programs for groups from schools, universities, churches and companies from the USA and around the world to support residents of low-income communities on the island.
We support self-managed, sustainable development projects located in urban, rural and coastal settings and focus on environmental stewardship, micro-enterprise development, youth development, cultural preservation and quality of life issues. Programs include field trips to important cultural and/or natural sites, basic Spanish, and afro-Puerto Rican dance and music, among other activities. Serve with us and get to know the beautiful tropical archipelago of Puerto Rico, only few hours by airplane from USA east coast. No passport needed if coming from the US.

Program Impact
We support community-based organizations with their self-managed, sustainable development projects. We work hand in hand with community residents, academics, students, youth groups and other volunteers to develop projects that conserve and/or restore the natural environment, create jobs and improve the well-being of the communities we serve.
