About Program
The Law and Human Rights volunteer programmes are designed to give essential practical on-the-ground work experience to apply to degree-related travel and career progression, whilst giving back to developing communities South Africa. You would work under lawyers and legal experts to help run a walk-in law clinic; take on cases for marginalised communities and asylum seekers; pursue cases for them; identify local trends and issues; advocate for policy changes; and move through departments to work on cases that most interest you. The types of cases we see and manage are things like the renewal of refugee status, new claims for asylum, access to healthcare, retrieving birth certificates and documents from hospitals, and access to schools and education. We often come across cases of institutional discrimination towards the communities we are helping. Receive training at our partner organisation and progress week by week, whilst making a real impact.
