Hurricane Helene Relief: North Carolina Disaster Response
- United States of America
About Program
On September 26, Hurricane Helene made a historic landfall, becoming the first Category 4 hurricane to hit Florida's Big Bend since record-keeping began in 1851. The storm's impacts were especially devastating hundreds of miles inland in North Carolina, particularly in the western and central regions. Torrential rain caused severe flash flooding, washing away entire neighborhoods and cutting off communities from essential services. Landslides blocked roadways, further isolating affected areas, while powerful winds knocked down trees and damaged infrastructure.
All Hands and Hearts has been working on the ground in and around Asheville, North Carolina, since the early moments of the storm's passing, helping clear debris, conduct muck and gut operations and assess homes for damage. In December, our volunteer teams have continued debris removal, muck and guts and sanitations at over 113 sites. Join us by volunteering on our Hurricane Helene Relief program today.
