An Unforgettable Experience

I spent six weeks in South Africa staying at the research camp, waking up every morning and being able to look out onto the plains and see a variety of wildlife was breath-taking and something I would recommend to anyone. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable, thanks to them I now know a lot more about wildlife and conservation. Extra effort was made allowing us to do other activities, like a visit to the nearby National Park, visiting local towns, pub nights, and horse riding, which made the trip even more memorable.

Hamba Africa gave me the opportunity to experience close-up encounters with a range of wildlife, and I was lucky enough to be present and help with interventions on buffalos, a lioness, an elephant and a rhino. The experience was rewarding, as we engaged in activities such as rhino monitoring, game transects, soil moisture monitoring, plains monitoring, body condition scoring, and much more. This allowed me to feel like I was making a real difference, and will be extremely valuable to support my future career ambitions. I also met a lot of amazing people with different backgrounds who shared similar interests, and who I learnt a lot from.
