I signed up for Project Laut as I was planning to take a career break and wanted to do my Divemasters whilst I decided what to do next. I joined with my Advanced Open Water and 28x dives but was a bit nervous as I hadn’t dived in more than 4 years. From day 1, the support from all the Project Laut team was amazing and I felt my confidence growing dive by dive.

The first few weeks of the programme consisted of the React Right, Rescue and Ecology courses, with the rest of the weeks focusing more on guiding practice (through guiding the other interns) and gaining hands-on experience with coral restoration, turtle identification and sponge surveys, usually diving twice a day. There’s a really strong focus on conservation, safety and technical skills throughout each step of the programme and this sets you up really well for working as a dive master or going on to become an instructor in the future.

As well as the incredible diving, Nusa Penida is an amazing island to explore on days off together. Thank you so much to Sita, Asia, Abas, Margeaux, Joma and all the other interns for the best 10 weeks - I wish I could have stayed longer!
