That's Mandarin rocks!

My level of Chinese was OK before I discovered That's Mandarin, but i had forgot many words due to a change in circumstances and the lack of opportunity to speak with Chinese people at work. Luckily I discovered That's Mandarin, and instantly my Chinese started to improve again.

The teachers are fantastic and offer an extremely affable experience. They tailor the class around you and can quickly determine your level.

I thought the most enjoyable things about the classes were the story 'telling method' where you get to watch an interesting video and then talk about it afterwards. Initially you find yourself describing it in a very basic manner, not too dissimilar to a child would. But after a few classes you are able to express in much finer detail what is happening. For somebody who appreciates visual learning, I found this very effective.

What would you improve about this program?
Perhaps be more strict with me when it comes to Chinese character writing.

Review Thats Mandarin

- Methodology is very structured and at same time hands-on with daily examples
- Helpful and highly qualified staff (make also the fun part)
- For me, the three hour teaching per week, is very useful lto help me in my daily communication with ayi, colleagues and day to day things (after one year and can talk and understand)

What would you improve about this program?
- clear communication upfront (when student start study) on what is needed to get to each of the HSK levels

Finally an efficient method!

After different schools and methods, I discovered That's mandarin method and finally feel that i can really improve my chinese skills.
The repetitions, 'no need to take notes" system allows to really be focused during the class.
It's a funny and efficient way to learn chinese quickly !
I would definitely recommend it...

Brilliant online program

I have been living in central China for around 18 months, I've had various Chinese lessons but That's Mandarin has been the most useful one. I think their teaching methodods are fantastic. I'm asked to write a story each week (obviously in Chinese!), I do this about my own experiences that week which in turn makes my lessons about everyday situations. We then discuss this in my lesson and use that language to create new conversations. The fact that I have lessons via Skype has forced my listening ability as well which is brilliant. My teacher, Hu Laoshi, is fantastic, she's really fun and very patient when I'm having a bad day!

I have scored 5 for housing, safety and social points - this is because I only have online lessons and have not visited either of the schools in China. So please don't acknowledge those points.

I will carry on with my Chinese studies even after leaving, and I'll definitely stick with That's Mandarin.

Great school, great methodology!

I extremely enjoy attending both the face to face private lessons on Saturdays as well as the remote lessons using Skype. The methodology without a fix book or script is very interesting. Comming to the school regulary during about 1 year have help me passing from HSK2 level to HSK4...and now preparing for HSK5.

The previous system using email to send you the last lesson notes and audio in MP3 has been improved with a website that improved the traceability of all the previous lessons contents, that is a great improvement.

Thank you all teacher and admin. stuff for the great, professional and friendly job, keep smiling!

What would you improve about this program?
none. As i wrote above "The previous system using email to send you the last lesson notes and audio in MP3 has been improved with a website that improved the traceability of all the previous lessons contents, that is a great improvement." ...before it was difficult for me to trace back the material within my email inbox...now that is not necessary as i find them in the school website.

Great for survival Chinese

We take Chinese class every weekend for 2 hours at That's Mandarin, Jing'an, Shanghai.
The class is very helpful for our daily Chinese communication needs - in particular we're currently studying a survival chinese module, which helps with everyday life - getting a haircut, buying clothes etc.

We're also practising writing Chinese characters, which is helpful day-to-day for reading sign, menus, and so on. We don't practise much business Chinese, mostly because we're not yet at that level - it would be very useful in the future.

What would you improve about this program?
I would like to practise more writing and reading, but this will come in time.

Part time ChineseProgram

My teacher YuanYuan is very helpful, patient and strict. She has good teaching knowledge.

No specific difficult except very strict hours that we have to comply without much flexibility given to teachers.

Good school & good experience

I feel I had improuve my speaking hability and I could see that in my every day taskes and in the contact with native people.
The part-time chinese program is very appropriate to let me enough time to use my learning outside and to visit the city and have a every day real situation in markets, work, shops and so on.
Very rich experience.
