Work from home

This is was my first time using AIP's services after just recently completing another internship program and the overall experience was fine but there were definitely some flaws during my whole placement process. Despite being given a great company and professional experience, the initial process with AIP was somewhat messy in the sense where I was passed around to different point of contacts. I'm not entirely sure if this is normal but I was expecting to just have one person to be in touch with for the whole process. Nonetheless, the person I ended up being in touch with was very helpful and kind to me which made my feelings towards the whole program end on a positive note which I'm happy about. I'd also like to point out that even though this was a remote internship, I got along with my colleagues pretty well completing my tasks were fairly doable. I'd definitely recommend students coming off of high school or college to do a remote internship.

What would you improve about this program?
I'd honestly appreciate it if things weren't so messy in the beginning. Other than that, everything was great!

Didn't expect this at all

This was the first time I did an internship. Due to the pandemic, it was really hard to find a normal internship. I always dreamed of traveling abroad and interning in an international setting but I got the next best thing. I was browsing through AIP's website and found that they actually offer remote internship programs. This peaked my interest and since I was looking for an internship in business development, I thought that this opportunity would provide me the necessary work experiences needed. My mentors were great; they planned out a very definitive schedule for me and were rather strict about deadlines (which is something I highly praise). Ultimately, I learned so much from this remote internship experience and will cherish the core values for my whole life.

What would you improve about this program?
Virtual meetings were sometimes inconsistent in the sense that there were connectivity issues, so having a more stable way for meetings would be great.

Thank you for the opportunity!

I just graduated high school and I didn't expect to have any professional experience over the summer since I wanted to prepare for my first year in UBC. However, I had a friend who used AIP's services before and recommended me to get some experience to be "ahead" of others in terms of building my resume.

Skeptical at first, everything turned out great and it was exactly the same as what my friend described the program to be. My point of contact was very helpful and the community manager was very friendly which made me feel comfortable. Although it was a remote internship, it was still a great experience and I'm forever grateful.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Keep an open mind and for those who are even in high school, do not be afraid to do an internship.

Very awkward but still good experience

It was my first time doing something remotely and it was very awkward in the beginning because things were a little bit messy in terms of getting tasks done and actually being productive since I'm just at home all day.

Nonetheless, I had the chance to change my company because the initial company given by AIP were not a great fit and not helping me improve at all. But after getting another company, everything become smoother and my supervisor was much more responsive. Can't really thank AIP enough for getting everything done or else it would've been really bad.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I would definitely be less distracted at things to be more productive.

Great first time experience for students

Overall, a really great experience doing a remote internship as this wasn't so common back when I was in college! Things were obviously different in terms of when to complete tasks as you had the freedom to do the work anytime you want, which was a great advantage considering this pandemic that affected the whole world. From the beginning, I wasn't sure that this remote internship was going to work for me just because my nature of working in the office has already engraved in my very actions and I didn't think I would be able to fit in to work at home while I'm with family and whatnot. Nonetheless, it all worked out with the AIP staff being very helpful and my supervisor in my host company being understandable with the time zones and being able to set meetings at times that I was available. Really great experience and I hope that students in college, those that just fresh out of high school, will take the opportunity to experience remote internships.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
Transitioning to a remote-type of work can be problematic so being able to adjust to that quickly could've helped me drastically.

The best experience ever

I did a remote internship in consulting. AIP found a financial company for me and they worked extremely hard, and efficient, on my placement. I was so fortunate to have had the help of such wonderful people.

The internship itself was demanding, nonetheless, but I learned so many valuable lessons that I will cherish for the rest of my life. I think what I really loved about remote internships with AIP was how organized they were. My supervisors had a plan and schedule for me, which I followed. I was very satisfied with the whole experience. Thank you so much AIP!

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Most nerve-racking moment was giving my presentation online.

Happy with the remote internship!

Even with this pandemic going on around the world, kudos to AIP for helping me out and finding my a remote internship. Online internships are usually hard to trust and I'm just glad I was able to find the right company for my future career.

My AIP supervisor was very kind from the get-go and assisted me with everything to make sure I was getting the right company and the right tasks. Saying that AIP is good is definitely an understatement because they were just outright amazing and I will be looking to do another remote internship for sure.

What was your funniest moment?
Funniest moment was definitely meeting my colleagues online as it was really awkward but heart-warming.

First time professional experience!

Really great experience overall!

Doing a remote internship was not something that I had in mind since I initially wanted to go to Japan, but with the pandemic happening, plans changed. My supervisor at AIP was very helpful and even recommended me to do a Remote internship and at first I was skeptical because I feared it may not give me the experience I'm looking for, but the overall job was not so bad and actually taught me some new things.

One thing I loved about it as well is that the pricing was definitely cheaper than the initial package that I've chosen for. So I guess I can say I got what I wanted for the price that was asked.

I may be looking to try out another remote internship with AIP to continue getting experience until this pandemic is done.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
One thing I would definitely change is going into AIP's application with an open mind in case things changes.
