"IA Summer" - Learn Spanish through Cultural Immersion in Mexico

I absolutely loved my time in Mexico on Iguana Abroad. The group dynamics on the trip were really special and I made friends with travellers from all around the world. I also met Mexicans from all over the country, from all walks of life, who shared their life stories and taught me about their country and their culture. Learning Spanish definitely opens up so many doors to new people and places and helps you to experience so much that you would never be able to do if you never learnt the language. If you haven’t signed up yet don’t hesitate – you won’t regret it.

Awesome course that totally made mine and my boyfriends year. Me and my boyfriend (who was on the course with me) started 2023 saying again that we would finally learn Spanish before the year ended (because this was now like the third year we were saying this!!) … and honestly, we can both actually say we finally can both speak Spanish really well now, and we are so happy to say that!! We both totally agree that without coming to Mexico and making that decision (and it took us a while to make) to sign up and travel to Mexico instead of signing up to another app, then we would probably be ending this year still not speaking Spanish.. again! We had an amazing experience with everything that happened on Iguana Abroad, making lots of new friends, we saw some really incredible parts of Mexico that we never knew existed, ate some of the best food of our lives and are ending this year a lot better and happier for the experience! We have recommended this course to all of our friends and families!

Iguana Abroad was an all-round amazing experience! It is the perfect place to meet other people from all around the world who are interested in learning Spanish and exploring a new place with incredible people. On the Spanish program we were taught by some amazing teachers and my Spanish improved so much, as well as learning some authentic Latin American Spanish which I would not have known had I decided to learn Spanish in the US.

Iguana Abroad staff were so helpful – they helped me buy medicine when I was ill in the first week and they also helped me find vegetarian food near the accommodation, which I appreciated, as well as many other little details that made the whole experience special.

Iguana Abroad is an excellent Spanish immersion course at a reasonable price in a beautiful part of Mexico. I would highly recommend the program for anyone who is learning Spanish, whether you are a new learner or already have an existing knowledge of the language. The Spanish school caters to all abilities and the lessons were excellent. Before you arrive they do an assessment via video call with a teacher to determine your level and when you are there the teachers are very accommodating to your needs and preferences. The accommodation provided was spacious and close to the main amenities and attractions of the city. There was a laundrette nearby and many good restaurants and cafes selling good-value Mexican food. One aspect of Iguana Abroad which is is central to the experience is the series of immersion events and excursions which allow you to see the main sites of the area and experience the culture outside of the language school. The staff of Iguana Abroad are really nice and are always willing to show you around and make sure that you are happy, and their knowledge of the local area really gives the Iguana Abroad program a personal touch. A great program!

I found this program online and I was drawn to the combination of Spanish classes, language immersion and travel that this program offers. From the moment I first contacted Iguana Abroad the communication was excellent and once I arrived in Mexico the service remained impeccable throughout. The Spanish classes were perfect for my level of Spanish, the teachers and staff on the program were helpful and knowledgeable and the location of the classes was perfect for soaking up the language in a relaxed environment.

If you want to learn Spanish in an adventurous, exciting and authentic setting, explore a new country and improve your Spanish through cultural immersion I cannot recommend Iguana Abroad enough!

Iguana Abroad was a really special trip. I had planned to come in 2022 but in the end due to family issues I had to come in 2023, but it was definitely worth the wait! Iguana Abroad are really detail-focused and really make the lead up to the program enjoyable and stress free. Once you arrive they take care of any minor issue that you may have (including when I thought I lost my passport!). Overall really caring team, beautiful people and a special program for learning Spanish. Highly recommended.

This program was such a great experience! From the moment I arrived in Mexico the guys on Iguana Abroad made me feel at home, the accommodation was comfortable and clean, and the Spanish classes were amazing! It was really interesting to see how they teach Spanish in Mexico because whenever I have done Spanish classes before in the US I have found them to be not always very useful, but on Iguana Abroad the teaching was always excellent – the teachers were experienced with lots of patience for my bad grammar and pronunciation! They always explained everything really clearly and they also solved a lot of issues with my Spanish accent which I have tried to fix for a long time. Overall, I learnt loads of Spanish on Iguana Abroad and most importantly I had a great time, met some amazing people and loved every minute.

Perfect Spanish immersion course. Reliable and consistent organization, great staff, and good communication throughout. Mexico itself is very beautiful and very different to how I imagined it. One thing that surprised me when I first arrived was that the place where Iguana Abroad is based is very green and lush (I was imagining cactuses!)– it was so beautiful and perfect weather –there are beautiful tropical trees everywhere and you can see the mountains from the accommodation. We also travelled to a stunning natural park on the first weekend where there were hummingbirds, wild tropical fish and... iguanas! The course was really sociable, the other people on the program were great and the Spanish classes were stimulating and interesting. I loved how all the Spanish lessons were with local teachers who knew a lot about the customs and traditions of the local area – some of the stories they told us were so interesting and all the staff were great for recommending places to see and visit. Overall, I loved my time in Mexico on Iguana Abroad. A perfect course in a beautiful country.
