Casco Antiguo Spanish School

I had a great experience at Casco Antiguo Spanish School. I feel much more comfortable speaking Spanish with native speakers now. The instructors are passionate about teaching and they make the classes fun and interesting. We took several field trips to museums, markets and parks. I especially enjoyed the free samples at I Love Panama Chocolate. I also enjoyed being able to practice what I learned in class during the free after school activities. The bike tour and happy hour were great ways to meet other students. I hope to return to Panama City some day to take another class.

Pros
  • Small class sizes.
  • Learned a lot about the history and culture.
  • Met other students through after school activities.
Cons
  • Panama City is very hot.

Casco Antiguo Spanish School

Casco Antiguo Spanish School built a program for our children to learn Spanish with them. They each had a different level of Spanish knowledge before coming to class. They made the kids feel welcomed. The kids participated in outings around the neighborhood so they could practice their skills. They went above and beyond to make the kids feel comfortable. The school did an impressive job teaching them Spanish and teaching them the Panamanian culture. I would recommend this school for anyone wanting to learn Spanish.

One Week Intensive Spanish Course

Absolutely AMAZING experience at Casco Antiguo Spanish School. Lessons were interactive, teacher was incredible and had an amazing ability to break the language down in a manner that really made sense and enabled us to pick it up quickly. I walked out feeling confident in both my written and spoken Spanish - I'm not fluent but, without a doubt, on my way to being so with Rosana's help. ALL the staff are friendly, fun, warm and welcoming. It was simply an all-round super experience and I can't wait to go back!

Pros
  • Fantastic teachers
  • Warm, friendly, inviting atmosphere
  • Afternoon / evening activities to make friends and practise Spanish

Great Spanish School

I just completed 3 weeks of the intensive course (4 hours/day, 5 days a week) at Casco Spanish School. I really enjoyed my time here and learned a lot. My teacher, Jose Javier, was fantastic. He used a lot of different activities and techniques to teach Spanish. We did some more typical activities like reading stories, learning vocab from the stories and answering questions but we also did more interactive activities like interviewing native speakers and then reporting their answers, playing games, scavenger hunts and given presentations. I really appreciated the diversity of activities and topics that we discussed and practiced in class. The other instructors and staff at the school are great and super fun and supportive. I felt like I could reach out with problems or questions. I have studied at a few Spanish schools and this was by far the best. I really enjoyed my time her and highly recommend this school.

Spanish immersion

Hola,
My wife and I just had a wonderful time at Casco Antiguo Spanish School. We spent a month and improved our Spanish. The lessons are well structured and interesting. There are also activities included wich are fun and give you the opportunity to meet others students and locals.
The school is located in Casco Antiguo where you can enjoy restaurants, bars, rooftops, shops, museums and walking along the shore. On the weekends, we rented a car to explore a little further.
A nice way to travel, meet locals, make new friends and no matter your age.

Spanish Immersion at Casco Viejo School of Spanish

Had a wonderful week in Spanish immersion. Great teachers and staff and the location is awesome. Price was very reasonable. School was able to accommodate changes in skill level. I’m looking forward to returning and improving my skills! I recommend this whether you are just starting out in Spanish or are a more advanced student. I very much appreciated the additional activities and field trips. There are great restaurants, museums, and stores located nearby and you can easily walk to the ocean in a few minutes.

Great Experience Brushing Up On My Spanish

I was in Panama for a week and wanted to brush up on my Spanish. Lina was extremely helpful and made a point to cover my more problematic areas and get my speaking and listening practice in. One of the best parts is that it's not limited to a classroom experience, we went out and saw the city and were able to practice our Spanish in situations. The school is in a central location in Casco, so it's very convenient for you to explore the city before or after your classes. I'd recommend anyone visiting Casco Viejo to drop in for a few classes. It's well worth it and was a lovely experience!

Fantastic Spanish school in beautiful location

I took a four week trip to Panama to attend this school and start learning Spanish, and after the end of this month I can not recommend this school enough for any potential Spanish students or travelers! In the four weeks I spent in Casco Antiguo, I was able to go from a complete beginner to having a solid basic basis in the language. After a month of study, I was able to confidently have basic conversations with Panamanians on the street, and felt I was able to express myself in (basic) Spanish thanks to what I learned at Casco Antiguo. The classes are immersion style, which really facilitates quick learning. The classes are a great mix of days that are more more grammar-heavy and structured, as well as days that are less structured and more free-flowing conversation-based. The teachers are excellent. They are understanding, and more than happy to (while sticking to Spanish) help and guide you in your conversation so that you are more able to confidently express yourself, without having to revert to English. The school has its own textbook/study resources (which are included in the price), which give you a great base in the basic Spanish. I signed up for group classes (20 hours a week), but if there are not enough students in your level for group classes, you are offered one on one classes for no additional charge! (Though you are understandably dropped down for 15 hours a week in this situation).

Additionally, you can’t beat the location. Casco Antiguo is really beautiful, with a great mix of colonial Spanish, art deco, and 19th century French architecture and a beautiful historic core of old churches and cathedrals. Great restaurants, and great views of the downtown and Amador causeway in the distance. The school offers activities throughout the week. I loved trying Salsa dancing my first week, as well as the bike tour. The weekly happy hour comes from a free drink ticket at a great nearby bar, where they host a language exchange - great place to practice your Spanish!

Anyone looking to travel for the purpose of learning Spanish, or to spend a week or two to brush up on your Spanish in the middle of your backpacking trip, I can’t recommend this school enough. The price can’t be beat for the quality of class on offer. Students are of all ages and backgrounds. ¡Gracias por todo!

Pros
  • Classes are small and facilitate one-on-one learning
  • Immersion style classes
  • Fantastic teachers and friendly + helpful staff
