Learn Spanish in Costa Rica

This is a great program to learn spanish abroad. I personally have learned a lot about the Costa Rican culture and also a lot about myself. This program was also fun because I got to learn a whole entire city and where to go and stay out of trouble. In this program you also learn how to stay out of trouble and fend for yourself. Also the teaches here are some of the best spanish teachers in the world. All of the families here are so nice and help you a lot. My family cooked great food and helped me with everything. It is so pretty i truly enjoyed my experience at COSI Maximo Nivel.

What would you improve about this program?
Not very much was wrong except for the food offered. There could be more food, but that is unnecessary.

En la escuela ellos dan usted recesa mucho y usted va al supermercado y compra comida. La clase es cinco horas y en la tarde, cual da usted tiempo a hacer cosas.

In the school they give you a lot of recess where you can go to the supermarket and buy things. The class is 5 hours in the afternoon which gives you time to do things in the morning.

Quepos Classes

I barely knew any Spanish at all, but now I know more than if I had used google translate to study rather than school! It really isn't a school, but a huge family separated only by 3 levels of classes, being begginers, intermediate, and advanced. Though we all learn similar things at the same time, like animals for example! Begginers learn basic animals like perro and gato, intermediate learn a little more difficult animals such as loro and araña, while advanced learn harder animals like mariposa and águila! All in all, it's a fantastic school, so come be apart of our family, por favor?

What would you improve about this program?
Teachers learning a bit more English and A.C., but that might just be me being picky.

My Spanish experiance with Maximo Nivel

I had a great time learning spanish with the servises provided by Maximo Nivel. They were suportive and their teachers and staff were very helpful. Throughout the day the staff would check on you and see if you needed anything, and if they could, they would provide assistance in learning spanish by speaking spanish with us and helping us translate english words and sentences to spanish. I had a fantastic time with Maximo Nivel and I would strongly recomend it to others that had a desire to learn spanish.

What would you improve about this program?
Make sure to screen the host familes extensivly before alowing a family to stay with them.

A Wonderful Experience for Children

During our one week stay in Antigua, my daughters (13 and 11) and I enrolled in a four-hours for four-days immersion program. The one-on-one attention was fantastic. The instructors' command of English was excellent (although it wasn't used during our lessons!). They also displayed considerable patience :). As novice Spanish students (Mom VERY novice) we were challenged outside of our comfort zone-that was a good thing. I would highly recommend Maximo-Nivel. I am considering one of the other Maximo-Nivel locations for next summer. The staff was VERY helpful.

What would you improve about this program?
Our classes were in an annex to the main school. I did not realize there more than one building. I was a little apprehensive at first; but I got used to it.

Teaching English Program in San Jose, Costa Rica

I have had a wonderful experience with Maximo Nivel in Costa Rica and can't say enough great things about this organization. The staff is extremely helpful, supportive, friendly, and very passionate about what they do. It is inspiring working with such dedicated individuals and I feel very lucky to have been a part of the Maximo Nivel family for 3 months. Everything from the project placement to host family stays were well organized and they make the transition of coming to a new country a very smooth process. On my very first day in San Jose, my fears were put to rest. I received information about where I was going to be teaching, what other volunteers would be with me, orientation to the city, a course on how to teach abroad, safety tips, where to exchange money, and much more. I was also accompanied by Maximo staff to my project placement later that day. I was showed where to catch the bus, and introduced to everyone who I would be working with at the church for the next 3 months. Teaching abroad has been such a challenging experience given the language barrier with the children as well as learning how to manage a classroom. However, it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. The highlights of teaching abroad have been working with the children everyday and meeting people from all over the world who want to make a difference. There are also great opportunities to travel on the weekends and many other social outings during the week to get involved in. It has been such a memorable experience and I have Maximo Nivel to thank for that. Muchas gracias!
