Best month of my life!

This trip blew away any expectations that I had. Everyone was extremely nice, friendly, and welcoming. I truly felt at home while I was away from home. I would recommend this program to anyone who is interested and I would say not to hesitate. 10/10 would recommend to future students interested. I would highly recommend playing Kingsbarns if you have the option. That is one of the most breath taking courses I have ever been to. Getting a caddy is a must as well. Every chance you have to get a caddy you have to. It really enhances the experience here on Scottish links.

Pros
  • So much golf
  • Great people
  • Kingsbarns
Cons
  • None

Had an amazing time!

This program went beyond what I was expecting. The classes were easy and homework never took too much of my time. We were done with scheduled activities by 4 pm, so it was nice to have some free time after that. It was easy to get into Edinburgh. The living space was good, we had communal bathrooms, but had our own sinks in our rooms. They took us to the store for groceries every week and took us to a horse trial and we got to spend the day there watching different disciplines. Everyone that I met here has been super nice and helpful and I have made a few friends from Scotland too.

Pros
  • Easy to get into Edinburgh
  • Very nice, small college campus
  • Everyone (teachers, trainers, kitchen staff, etc) were very nice and helpful
Cons
  • Small shower spaces
  • Loud, slamming doors

Equine Study Abroad Program

My experience here in Scotland has been wonderful. I have gotten the opportunity to learn more about horses and make new friends. I enjoyed travelling different places on our weekends off. I went to Edinburgh, London, and the highlands. I loved getting time to explore different parts of the country. The dorms we stayed in were nice. Personally I did not enjoy the food at the dining hall as much as I would have hoped only because there was limited flavor (But keep in mind I am a picky eater). Overall this study abroad experience was amazing and I am glad I got to make so may fun memories here. I would definitely do this again.

Pros
  • Beautiful scenery
  • Nice weather
  • Caring professors
Cons
  • Food at the dining hall

Summer in Scotland

My summer program in Scotland was amazing! I absolutely loved studying at Oatridge College, the facilities are amazing and he horses are so sweet! The instructors are very accommodating and the classwork is interesting. Although the campus is a small little rural community, you can still access public transit and make your way into the city a often as you like. I spent a lot of time exploring Edinburgh and took a few bus tours to visit the beautiful Scottish highlands and even the castle where the first few Harry Potter movies were filmed!

Pros
  • Horses
Cons
  • Only 4 weeks

Equine Summer 4-week program

This program is absolutely amazing, I loved getting to adventure the city of Edinburgh and country side, learning more about the culture with new people and hopefully long term friends! Taking the weekends to explore on my own and with new friends was amazing and exhilarating. I appreciated the learning experience both in the classroom and out of it. The instructors are here for you to allow a place that facilitates new experiences, knowledge building and creates an environment of support. Highly recommend the highlands and especially Glencoe!

Pros
  • meeting new people from different parts of my country
  • exploring new places
  • learning more about the country and region
Cons
  • public transportation can be unreliable at times

New horses and new friends!

Living at such a tiny school with an hour and a half bus ride to get to Edinburgh was a very new experience to me. If you thrive being busy and always doing something, you will spend a lot of money getting to and from the city. If you like to hike and hang out with friends, you can have fun at the school. You'll learn about horses and about yourself! Be prepared for how rural the college is, it's a 30 minute walk just to the nearest restaurant and tiny town. If you make friends, you'll have lots of fun.

Pros
  • Nice and helpful instructors
  • Beautiful area
  • Not far from airport
Cons
  • Long and difficult to get to the city
  • Nothing to do that doesn't require a bus ride
  • Lots of free time without a ton to do on campus

Scotland Equine Summer Abroad 2023

I had a great time at this program and having the chance to ride wonderful horses at the Scottish Equestrian Center. The facilities and the horses here were absolutely amazing and so were the riding lessons. The staff here is so caring and cares for your success and well being. I really enjoyed the hands on work in our practical classes with anatomy, it really helps. I recently changed my major the first week of the program, totally opposite of horses but I still enjoyed it so much and was just so much fun.

Pros
  • Great riding lessons
  • amazing staff
  • equine facility
Cons
  • poor food options at canteen
  • lack of air conditioning
  • city is far

Great Time in Scotland

This study abroad was so fun. Everyone is super welcoming and super nice. The campus you stay at is about a 40 min bus ride into Edinburgh so you could go for the day. We got super lucky and got a lot of sunny days but highly recommend rain jackets. The local pub is really fun to go to at the end of a long day. However, don't forget to study for the final, it was a little humbling, to say the least. The riding was super fun too, horses were so sweet and you got to ride in the Scottish National Equestrian Centre. There also a hill you can climb called Binny Craig, it is harder than it looks but the views at the top are amazing.

Pros
  • The Pub
  • The teachers
  • The views
Cons
  • Drama
  • Having to actually wake up before 9am

Equine Summer Abroad- Scotland 23

This program was so much fun. I learned more about horses and management of horses within this program. All the staff was kind and willing to help out whenever it was needed. They also give you a lot of opportunities to go out and explore Scotland. The only thing that I would recommend when coming over here is creating a game plan of things that you would like to see and do. Also, being open to change your plans when needed. There will be moments where you might need to reconsider your plans due to the weather or the thing that you want to do being fully booked.

Pros
  • Supportive staff
  • Time to explore Scotland
  • Good academic program
Cons
  • cafeteria food

Life Changing

This program changed my life! A great experience for students who have never been abroad before as it is only 4 weeks and comes with a perfect amount of structure. Some weekends were planned with activities such as a horse show or a trip, while others we were given leeway to plan our own trips. The instructors are kind, knowledgeable, and always open to answering questions. Riding at the Scottish National Equestrian Center was amazing and so much fun. Highly, highly recommend this program to my fellow adventurers and students wanting to get their feet wet studying abroad!

Pros
  • Incredible instructors
  • Ability to travel to other countries on the weekends
  • Lots to do in the city
Cons
  • Housing could be better (doors are loud, walls are very thin, etc.)
  • Difficult to travel within Scotland
  • Long classes
