Don´t let fear hold you back; take the plunge!

I know that before I moved abroad, a huge factor holding me back was fear of the unknown. Looking back now, I am kicking myself because after moving to Madrid, going through the TEFL course, meeting all these amazing people and making tons of new friends, I´m left asking myself, ¨Why did I not do this sooner??¨ I can honestly tell anyone who is unsure, hesitant or scared (if you´re reading this) about moving to another country, you will be pleasantly shocked at what you discover about yourself, if you just do it.

Now, don´t get me wrong, I attribute a lot of my success here to the fantastic program that TEFL Heaven provides. Without my completion of this course, the wonderful staff and supportive people in the program, I would not have succeeded the way I did. The staff, from day one is here to support you, answer any questions and thoroughly prepare you for teaching English in Madrid. The course is intensive, but it´s exactly what you would want and what you would need to be confident and prepared to teach English. Whether you have experience or absolutely none, this program will have you 100% ready.

What would you improve about this program?
The program is very intensive in the first month you arrive which does not leave much time for learning Spanish.

Amazing experience!

Moving to a new country can be scary, particularly if you're going at it alone. I felt the same way. Now I know that being scared or nervous was completely unnecessary because coming to Madrid to complete my TEFL has been the best decision I could have possibly made!
From the moment you register your interest on the TEFL Heaven website, when the thought of moving abroad is simply a tiny seed in your mind, the team are there to help you, answer any question you may have and make the whole concept a lot more simple and less intimidating.
After sending my CV, I very quickly received an invitation to have a Skype interview; a chat with a member of the team where you can really showcase to them why you are a perfect TEFL candidate. From the moment I knew I had a place on the course, I had immediate contact with the centre in Madrid where they were preparing me for the move and were always on hand to punctually answer any question, no matter how big or small. The company help you out with housing, VISAs, Spanish classes, what you need to bring with you and everything in between.
Once I arrived at the course centre, I immediately felt welcomed and at home. The team are the most friendly people, it really is a big family that grows every month as the new course starts. I had a wholly positive experience and felt fully supported throughout. The intensity of the course is balanced by the way the team assists you in managing your workload and encouraging positive attitudes whilst the people you meet during the experience make everything so much more fun and worthwhile.
Whilst watching a demo class on my first day of the course, I said to myself 'I'm never going to be able to teach like that in just four weeks' and now, a week after my course finished, I am working in companies across Madrid teaching Directors and CEOs; the course fully prepares you to be a professional teacher in many environments.
Getting legal in Madrid was a process that was fully supported by the centre and any forms that looked intimidating were explained and they would help you fill them out and tell you where to go to get appointments, SIM cards or metro passes.
I am so happy to be here and I am so pleased that I made the decision to come to Madrid through TEFL Heaven. It is an amazing and life-changing experience which no one should have a second thought about doing!

Hard Work But Pays Off

With this programme you really get to experience all the this amazing city has to offer.
The programme itself is a very intensive training course and at the end you leave a qualified TEFL teacher with a 120hr certificate.
The course was a lot more intense than I originally thought it would be and can be very demanding, however due to this at the end of the course you have had lots of help and training on being a language teacher. I felt very prepared to go into teaching in Prague after this course.
One of the main benefits of this course is that you are being trained right in the centre of Prague in one of the most popular parts of the city, there is plenty to do and you really learn your way around the city during the course.

What would you improve about this program?
This programme could be improved by letting students know in advance that this course is really intense and that they will be teaching lessons to students in their first week of training, this is something myself and others were not fully prepared for.

TEFL Heaven

The course was very well-managed and organised; I was pleasantly surprised, and the staff were always looking to offer you support.

In terms of post-course employment opportunities, there is certainly no shortage of demand. I've received a tonne of emails within 48 hrs of completing the course. I think this is largely due to the program provider having an abundance of great contacts and also helping us to write CV's.

The only downside is that the course is time and energy intensive, which means little energy is left for learning Spanish during this month of training. You can make up for this in following months however.

In terms of travel, Madrid is a beautiful city. For anyone looking to experience a new place, I couldn't recommend this program and Madrid more highly. The food, culture and people are great and there are plenty of amazing bars, cafes and restaurants. I love the back streets and the squares here. The clubs are nice as well!

Enjoy!

What would you improve about this program?
As I said above, I think the only downside is that you can't do too much else during your training, especially if you have other hobbies like the gym/sports/social life etc.

I think they should state that bringing a laptop is mandatory, otherwise you're reliant on one of the 8 computers there, which can lead to time management issues. Bring your own laptop.

Landed in heaven

I had never been to Mexico before, or even Latin America. Most of my travels have been in Asia and around Europe. When I landed into Puerto Vallarta and saw the blue sky and palm trees, I knew I had landed in heaven.

The apartment we stayed in was a short 10 min bus from the school and easily located when using public transport! I had a pool, that was very much needed after walking around in such humidity. My course fell in rainy season, so we got used to the 4pm rain shower (the most rain I have ever encountered).

The teacher, Raul, was very engaging and kept the classes unique and fun so that it didn't feel like we were studying in a mundane way. I wont lie, the course is intense and as much as you can still have a great time exploring the city and hanging out at the beach, you need to work hard. But, it really pays off.

I feel like I learnt a lot about myself during this course, while being able to have a mini holiday at the same time. Would highly recommend to anyone interested in trying out Teaching Abroad!

What would you improve about this program?
I think that the communication prior to the course beginning could have been clearer.
The accommodation prices were a bit over-priced.
That's all.

Viva Mexico and GO!

I am a recent college grad and was looking for something to do in my gap year before heading back to graduate school. I chose Mexico because I wanted to further advance my Spanish skills. I was happily surprised with Puerto Vallarta and the course. Puerto Vallarta is an amazing beach town with a rich history and authenticity, but also has a tourist economy. The TEFL course was great. The instructors are caring and help you with whatever it is you need. They have a great system for job placement and will put you where is best for you. I made some wonderful friends through the course, and am actually still living in PV working as a 1st and 2nd grade teacher. Come to Mexico, it will so be worth your while!!

MAKE LIFE LONG FRIENDS AND HAVE THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE!

My experience on the TEFL HEAVEN PRAGUE program during August 2017 was unexpectadly hilarious and non-stop fun! Not knowing what to expect I was pleasantly surprised arriving on the first day to the amazing group of people I would spend the next month with. From day 1 it felt like we had all been friends from years despite being a mixed group of Aussies, Americans, Brits plus a Dutch and Russian of all different ages. The course itself was a great challenge but also extremely rewarding, especially being able to put all skills into practice almost immediately. The TEFL trainers in the Prague office would have to be the absolute highlight of the course for me. Incredibly hilarious, smart and patient teachers guided us through grammar, lesson planning and methodology modules everyday and it often didn't even feel like work/ study because of the fun being had in the classroom! Endless laughs, life long friends and some great experience is what you can expect from this course- plus the little fact that Prague is the most beautiful and amazing place I've ever visited!! Highly recommend!

What would you improve about this program?
Sometimes the daily schedule/ running of the course didn't make complete sense to me... I guess they had a certain number of hours of each module we had to complete but some content was quite irrelevant or just completed at a strange time of the course where it didn't fit. We would often have a long methodology session (tested in an end of week exam) followed by a short grammar session to plan our 1hr grammar lessons for the very next morning. This often didn't give us nearly enough time to spend with the grammar trainer preparing the important lessons which most of us found really daunting. To me it just would've made sense to have a longer grammar lesson planning session in that time and move the methodology session around as it wasn't being tested till Friday afternoon.

A loco experience!

The month spent completing my TEFL course in Mexico will always be one of the most memorable experiences of my life. I met some incredible people who, in just a short time, became like a family to me. Puerto Vallarta was hot, humid, relaxed, sunny, incredibly beautiful and fun! The locals smiled at me in the street and i've never met such warm and welcoming people. Compared to the rest of Mexico (although don't be put off by this- it's fine if you're smart) Puerto Vallarta is incredible safe and therefore the perfect place to study. My course trainer Raul was utterly fantastic! That man was like a walking encyclopedia and spoke about teaching English with such passion and love it had me desperate to get into the class room. We were shown that English can and should be fun and I learnt to teach complicated grammar concepts through Role Play and games. My only criticism of the course is that they will only help you to find a job in Mexico so if you want to work elsewhere in the world you will be searching independently for this. Not necessarily a problem just something to be aware of. I'm thrilled that I completed my TEFL here and learnt an unbelievable amount in a short time.

What would you improve about this program?
I would have like my lessons to have been observed more with additional constructive feedback (we had this but more would have been nice). Also, there needed to be an awareness that you wouldn't be helped in finding a job elsewhere in the world- only Mexico.

Want to be an English teacher in Spain? Then TEFL Heaven is for you!

The 4 week course provided by TEFL Heaven was a fantastic experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to teach English as a foreign language here in Spain.

The training staff are extremely friendly, down to earth and offer as much support to you as they can before, during and even after the course! As somebody who has not been in full-time education or a classroom for nearly 10 years it took me a few days to get used to the pace and intensity of the course. However, the trainers and my fellow classmates were very supportive and understanding throughout, we all worked as a collective and had lots of fun!

The course itself is very well organised and planned out, classes are really fun and it is rare that you will find yourself disinterested at all. The materials are excellent and the teaching methodology really helps you understand the structure of the English language and how to teach others in the process. If you have any reservations or difficulties the trainers are always happy to offer advice and any additional support that you may need.

After you've graduated the training centre will assist you with finding a job that suits you, also helping out with any class or interview preparation you may need. Whilst you'll have access to all the materials in the library to get you started!

My life has gone from a boring office job to living in a great European capital and teaching really enthusiastic and friendly people my native language. The experience of learning a new culture and practicing Spanish is also a great experience, and it goes well with teaching English too and meeting new liked-minded people.

If you enjoy travelling, want to live & work abroad, learning new cultures & languages then this course is for you! :-)

What would you improve about this program?
I have no suggestions for how this program can be improved, I enjoyed it immensely and every aspect was excellent.

Great Experience in Prague

Overall, doing my TEFL certification in Prague with the assistance of TEFL Heaven was a remarkably good decision. The instructors are of the highest quality, although I must say the workload is more difficult than I expected, and I earnestly believe my peers would concur. I possess an insatiable desire to both travel and teach, and TEFL Heaven allowed me the opportunity to quench these desires. Additionally, Prague is an incredibly pleasant city in which to live and work, and I would wholeheartedly recommend that anyone considering this program just do it. It' very much worth your time, and you are going to make a lot of pals along the way.

What would you improve about this program?
More transparency before arriving.
