Diversity & Inclusion

BIPOC Support

CEA CAPA provides, in conjunction with Diversity Abroad, Destination Guides which provide resources and tips for Black/African-American students, Latinx students, Asian American students, and all other students of color.

LGBTQIA+ Support

Through our personalized advising, CEA CAPA takes steps to understand the needs of a diversity of student identities like the LGBTQIA+ community. In addition to diversity and identity training, CEA CAPA leadership engage in continuous department level project work to identify and revise policies and practices using the appropriate Justice, Equity, Diversity or Inclusion lens as a frame to reduce bias and barriers that impact students, faculty, and staff. CEA CAPA is intentional in elevating diverse student voices and providing a platform for a broad array of identities to share their experiences abroad. The CEA CAPA World Blog promotes stories and personal experiences from the perspectives of diverse student bloggers and vloggers.

Neurodivergent Support

CEA CAPA is willing and able to assist students with learning disabilities and physical disabilities. Students are requested to disclose disabilities through the application health forms as part of their application and in discussion with their application advisor or program manager. The earlier CEA CAPA is made aware of learning or physical disabilities the better we can work with the student, institution, and overseas team to tailor an Individualized Education Program if necessary to support the student.

Impact

Sustainability

CEA CAPA makes a conscious effort to create study abroad experiences that leave a positive impact on host communities. Each location implements a variety of strategies to support the local community and promote sustainability. Examples include:

Use of recycling bins in Study Center locations and in CEA CAPA housing

Signage in CEA CAPA housing urging students to limit water and electricity usage

Students are often given reusable bags and water bottles upon arrival to limit single plastic use

Students are provided with instructions for acquiring transportation passes to promote use of public transportation rather than taxis

A wonderful experience abroad!

Going to London through CEA was one the best decisions I've ever made! It was surely an adjustment - but the on site staff were so friendly and knowledgeable - it made it very easy to adapt.

CEA took us to lots of places around the host country we stayed in (London, England). We went to Stonehenge & Bath, Oxford, York and even more local tours! The best part about these trips and tours was going places I wouldn't normally have gone myself & learning about all the history that comes with it.

CEA London Review

The CEA London program was the best experience of my life. Because I was the last person to show up at the airport on the arrival day of the program, and travelled abroad alone, knowing no one, I was very nervous. Once I showed up at the meeting point, Cassandra and Danielle took me to my dorm personally, since I was the last one to arrive. Although I was nervous, Cassandra and Danielle were the most welcoming and comforting people I have met. They are easily the best people to run the program, and made me feel beyond comfortable abroad. They have created a home for me abroad, and made my experience the best possible. Additionally, CEA provides extra events, like scavenger hunts and trips throughout England, that offer a great way to see different areas and meet people in your program. CEA has been such a great experience, and I am so glad I decided to study abroad through CEA.

What would you improve about this program?
Better college pairing. I did not like University of Westminster at all, due to faculty.

Lydia In London!

I chose the CAPA Program because it is linked with my college, Albright. I am allowed to take a full class load when I cross the sea and explore the unknown world of London. This program gives me the option to “personalize the experience” by allowing me to both take a full load of courses and participate in an internship or service learning opportunity. It was a dream come true to intern in London, and the CAPA program helped me fulfill a dream. My favorite part about London was that it is a fashion influenced city. London is simply in style. Pops of colors come from tall beautiful flowers growing out of window boxes. Colorful row houses stand tall on a long narrow street. London is also home to a vast number of parks. From High Park to St. James Park, you can walk from tall city buildings into the peaceful world of nature in a matter of minutes. The mix of city and country makes London a very interesting place to live and work. CAPA is global. CAPA offers programs in London, Dublin, Buenos Aires, Florence, Shanghai, and Sydney. Students should know that they can capture the world with CAPA. CAPA is very helpful and informative when it comes to studying abroad. They have been global leaders in studying abroad since 1972. They also offer internships, which out of the ten percent of American students who study abroad only three percent intern abroad.
Going to London was the best decision that I have ever made. The three and half months that I spend in the UK and traveling helped me see the world. It helped me checked off cities on my bucket list, meet new people, and become a citizen of the world. I got the experience how to work, live, and learn in an international city. This experience has forever changed my personal and academic life. As a CAPA Ambassador, I one hundred percent would recommend the CAPA London Program to other students. On my college's campus, I have talked in classrooms, given info sessions, and helped at a table held at our study abroad fair. The CAPA Program is life changing and has been ranked top in study abroad websites. I am very pleased that Albright partnered with CAPA to give me and other students a chance to capture the world.

A time thats never forgotten.

The time i spent studying abroad is some of the best memories that i have. There is not a day that goes by that i do not wish that i was still there. Cassandra is the best! She always went above and beyond what i could have ever expected out of our host. The people you meet, the places you see and the experiences you have will change you forever. Do yourself a favor and stop thinking about it and do it now. You won't regret it.

Studying Abroad with CEA London

I studied abroad with CEA London last Spring semester (2015). From the minute I submitted my application, CEA's staff was welcoming and helpful. Cassandra Peacock was my program coordinator and she made every day with CEA a new adventure. I loved all of the organized trips and fun activities we did around the city. Through CEA I was able to acclimate to the London way of life and see so many different aspects of the culture. Not only did CEA make my time abroad special, but the relationship continued after I left. The friendships I made with my roommate and other program members are still going strong. Plus, when I emailed Cassandra a year later for assistance with a project back at my home university, she immediately said yes. The care and support I've received from the CEA staff really made my time abroad (and after) extremely special.

London,England

I studied at Goldsmiths University in London, England. The University was very unique with students all over the world in my classes. I would describe the University as very artsy and unique. My professors were quite brilliant, the campus was beautiful, and London was incredible. Studying abroad in England was the best decision I ever made. You meet people from all over the world, learn about different cultures, and make incredible memories. The education over there is top notch and the people are very kind. I traveled to nine different countries while studying abroad and I do not regret studying in London because it became my favorite city.

London

London was an amazing place to study abroad, I had no idea I would fall in love with a place the way I fell in love with London. CAPA was a wonderful program. I learned so much in my international marketing class and they could not hove found me a more perfect internship. Leaving London was one of the saddest things I have done, if it were up to me and not my 4-tier VISA I would have stayed forever.

A Semester of Growth and Independence

My semester in London with CAPA was the best time of my life thus far. I loved the city, the people and the CAPA school. The classes I took with CAPA were some of my favorite courses I have taken in my college career. While they were not as academically challenging as I am used to from my home school, the experience was much greater and well-rounded than what I can achieve in the States. I chose 2 of my courses at CAPA specifically for the trips because I wanted to be able to learn from the city as much as possible. My classes really took advantage of the fact that we were in London, which I loved. The most trips I got to take was with 20th and 21st Century Modern Art. Every other week we were going to the National Gallery, Royal Academy of Arts or the Tate, and then we were back in the classroom for the next. There is nothing on the same level as learning about Van Gogh in class and then visiting that painting in a gallery the next. One of my favorite trips was through British Broadcasting Today. Near the end of the semester we toured the BBC, rehearsed a radio show and were the audience for “The One Show” that night. My first time on television, and it was in the UK! Just being in the BBC was a dream for me, and it was one of the greatest experiences CAPA gave me during my short 4 months in London.

What would you improve about this program?
The MyEducation events were amazing, but I wish there were more trips outside of London to get us outside the city. That would probably require raising the fees though.
