China Teaching Experience 2019

I arrived in China at the end of August 2019 and the support I received from Andrew before departure and upon arrival were second to none. Before leaving the U.K. he helped with everything from visas, degree legalisation, criminal background checks, the TEFL qualification, and was available 24/7 if you had any problems or questions. He was also incredibly flexible in terms of placement and takes all of your preferences into consideration - I was actually placed in my first choice school.

When I arrived in China I actually spent the first 8 days in Beijing at a teacher training camp, with around 30 other applicants from the Travel Grad program. This experience was invaluable and allowed us to make friends with each other - some of us were being placed in the same schools/cities, and some of us visited each other around the country during holidays.

I’ve met a lot of people in China who came here with many different companies, and I’ve heard a lot of horror stories about dodgy companies - taking too much money from their applicants, not providing support etc. I haven’t had any of these problems with Travel Grad and cannot recommend the program enough!

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
I had only been in China around 5 months before the pandemic began. The most nerve racking thing I experienced was deciding whether to stay in China or go home back to the U.K. Ultimately I decided to stay and it’s the best decision I have ever made - almost 3 years later and I’m still here!

China Teaching Experience

I was a 2020 applicant, and due to the pandemic it was such a challenging year to go to China. I have to say, the support I got from The China Teaching Experience was fantastic, and I don’t think I could have gotten that anywhere else. There was constant communication every step of the visa, travel process, quarantine and even when I started work in my new school. Whenever a challenge presented itself, I never felt like I had to deal with it on my own. I would definitely recommend CTE to anyone thinking about traveling to China.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Having to wait for the covid test results / HDC codes was the hardest part when traveling. I was so thankful to have CTE just a phone call away, and having someone to talk to about your worries makes the process so much better.

Great experience

I went to China with my partner and we were helped all the way by TravelGrad. They made sure we were put in a school together and took all of our wants and needs into consideration to get the perfect school for us.
We were also helped the whole way with the TEFL training and with all the paperwork needed for visas and employment etc. which would have been almost impossible on our own.
We both had an amazing experience in a lovely, welcoming school and were lucky enough to be able to explore China and South East Asia in the school holidays.

China Teaching Experience

I had the opportunity to join the China Teaching Experience in 2019 and i can say that it was the best decision I have made. I have met wonderful lifelong friends and students out there! It is definitely an experience i will do all over again. It was particularly easy with my cohort and with Andrew's support that made the exciting and nervous experience more enjoyable. You will meet people from all over the world who are in the similar position as you, for sure you will not feel alone out there! (don't forget about the food and photos)

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
The most nerve-racking moment was meeting new people , but you will meet people who are understanding and sociable. So its best to go out there and Google Translate is your best friend if you need any help travellling.

Couldn’t have done it without TravelGrad

For anyone considering going to China with TravelGrad, I would 100% recommend it! They made the process so so easy. They broke down the process into little steps and helped me so much throughout every step! The team are so friendly and helpful especially Andrew! If I had any questions or problems, they would assist me as quickly as possible. I definitely felt at ease going with TravelGrad and I could not have done it without them, 10/10. If you are in two minds about going, go for it!! Honestly you won’t regret it :-)
